Tell me about getting ready in the morning

I am not good at this. I never leave enough time and feel like I'm in a rush. I want to go back to work and I know this is a hurdle for me. I don't even have young kids to get ready!

So. Tell me what time you have to leave the house by, what time you get up, and what you manage to do in that time. Please!

DH, DS1 (6), DS2 (3) and me.

6:45 alarm (DS1 and DS2 appear)
7:00 everyone up, DH into shower, I dress DS2 and brush his teeth while chivying DS1 along
7:20 DH showered and shaved so I brush teeth, hop in shower, wash hair and self
7:40 finish dressing (short hair, no make up), DH starting breakfast downstairs with DSs
7:45 eat breakfast, maybe SM, maybe shove timed wash on or empty dishwasher (one task only!)
8:00 leave house (DSs with DH, me off in opposite direction)

Most stuff for me is prepped the night before, I can do it in half an hour with 2 young kids if my hair doesn't need washing.

I don put make up on, my breakfast is a shake.
Hair wash days on a uni morning I allow 45m to 1hr but I refuse to get up before 6am on any morning so I simply don't have any more time than the hour.

5.30 - Alarm goes off, struggle to sit up! take medications, check work emails! This is the absolute latest I can get up, and I’d never function if I had to wake up earlier to shower before work!
5.40 - Get dressed and possibly put on some make up if I have a SMT meeting or Case Conference
6.00 - shuffle down the two flights of stairs from our bedroom, make coffee and either scrambled eggs or omelette. While kettle is boiling, make up huge bottle of squash and get lunch out of fridge (prepared whilst supper is cooking the night before). Deposit both in giant work bag and try to not get hangry at DH getting in the bleeding way!
6.10 - wolf down breakfast and drink coffee in peace whilst DH goes back upstairs to put in his RGP lenses; keep ear tuned in to the upstairs noise incase I get drafted in to find a lens dropped in the carpet (he’s blind as a bat without his lenses) check work emails again before I get in the car so I can make any time sensitive calls whilst driving in if required.
6.25 - Leave home for the drive in to work.

No children here.

It takes me an hour to get up, shower, make up and get dressed for work. I don’t eat breakfast and DH makes my lunch each morning before he leaves for work. Bag, laptop and anything else I need for the day is all put together the night before. I never look at my phone or iPad in the morning. So up at 5.50 and out the door at 6.50.

I do all the prep in the evening because I'm crap in the morning.

Get up at 7 wash my face and teeth get dressed.
7.15 make up and brush my hair
7.25 eat breakfast
7.35 leave.

I dont deal with the kids in the morning dp does that if I do have to get the kids to school it's like this

8 get up and wake kids
8.10 put the kids cereal out
8.15 get dressed brush teeth and wash face
8.20 make up hair
8.30 dress ds2 and check ds1 looks ok
8.40 leave for school.

I need to ensure all my clothes lunches etc are sorted at night or it wouldnt work.

5:15 wake up and jump in shower
5:25 get dressed
5:35 take dog out
5:45 drink tea while staring at the wall and thinking that I would love to work 9-5
6:00 brush teeth, do hair and make up.
6:15 leave house

Clothes, bag and food prepared night before.
Children get themselves up at 7 on a school day (laze in bed until lunch time in holidays when I’m working).

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 29/07/2019 14:10

Go directly from bed to shower
Body dries while I do a bit of slap and put mousse in hair
Get dressed (clothes all laid out night before)
Downstairs and feed cats
Pick up bags/laptop/keys (all ready to go as well) and leave

Takes about 20mins. I never retrace my steps and have to go up or downstairs multiple times.

(Hair dries on the drive, have a cup of tea when get to work)

This is v helpful. I got up at 645 this morning and I'm nearly ready to go now, just gone 730. No kids today but v helpful to time just me getting ready. I think I need another ten minutes. So.

Thanks all, so so helpful to see your different routines.
