Can I be made to work full time?

I've worked 3.5 days a week since my eldest child was born. Youngest is starting school soon and from a few throw-away comments I think my boss is expecting me to work 5 days a week after this.

My contract is for part time hours. Can they insist I increase my hours? I really don't want to.

No. If your contract is PT, then that is what you have to work.

That's good. Thank you.

www.workingfamilies.org.uk/articles/the-law-when-an-employer-asks-you-to-change-your-hours/

Read through that. Follow up anything to want further clar8fication on. You might as well have all your arguments prepared.

Job shares sometimes have to pick up hours if their share person leaves.

Goldencarrot · 29/07/2019 11:24

Adverse- no they don't. If the contract is part time they don't have to do any more than their contracted hours. It's not their fault their job share leaves.

Be prepared to be made redundant if they say the role is no longer available as it is.

Really make sure that you know your stuff and what processes and procedures they are required to follow by law.

Remember that employers do what the hell they like, employment law just picks up the pieces afterwards.

They sure do!warehouse that let me do a 30 hour week when it suited them cut everyone's hours to the bone when relocating so they got less redundacy pay🤔
