Hello all!
Me, DH, DDs (11 & 9) and DS (6) will be heading to Liverpool this Friday. We are travelling from Central Scotland so will probably arrive around lunchtime.
Can you give me your recommendations of fun things for us to do? I think there's so much we'd LOVE to do but only have Friday afternoon/evening (we are going to the CBBC Summer Social Festival on the Saturday then heading straight home afterwards).
Do you think a bus tour would be best to get our bearings/see the major sights etc? Any must dos? Thanks 😁

Hello from Liverpool! You'll love it here.

A bus tour isn't a bad way of seeing the place, actually. Then you can get a feeling for what you'd like to see in more detail. The Albert Dock is good - museums and places to eat. Bold Street is great for food as well.

If you're not scared of heights, going up the tower of the Anglican Cathedral (the big red-brick one) is fun. A lift takes you almost to the top, so it's not too strenuous.

I wouldn't bother with a bus tour - it's only a small city.

Maritime museum (especially the Titanic section) is excellent. You're then near the Tate as well, which has usually got something interesting, even if you don't like modern art.

Definitely Bold Street for food - there's a good pizza place, a nice Lebanese, Greek, all sorts, so you'll almost certainly find something you like - and generally very decent prices too. Or if the kids are fussier, there's plenty of chains.

And War Horse is on at the Empire, if you fancied the theatre on Friday evening.

Thavk you both!
So sounds like we are sorted for food......and oh my goodness War Horse! We've always wanted to see it (although we'll need to stop off for a huge box of hankies I think 😭🤣).
Another question if you don't mind? We'll be driving straight into the city, are there park and ride areas we could use, and which one do you think would be best please? (Should probably google but it's great to have local knowledge!).
