Not a taat but inspired by a discussion on another thread about violence so I thought I'd start this one to chat.
The North East - famous for parmos and stotties
The North West -?
Yorkshire - the Yorkshire pudding. Stuff like jam?
The East Midlands - pork pie
The East Coast -?
The west Midlands -?
The South East -?
London - jellied eels??
South West - cornish pasty. Scones and cream.

Help me fill in my many gaps!

Have you never heard of Chedder Gorge OP?

County of Somerset FYI.

Mary1935 · 28/07/2019 22:36

Lancashire hot pot, Chorley cakes and Eccles cakes. Chips and mushy peas in a tray with gravy. Chips and pudding in a tray with gravy too. It’s like a suet with mincemeat inside.
Not sure if black pudding and tripe originates from the north of England.
My grandmother used to eat pigs trotters! Lovely.

Yorkshire also has Yorkshire Curd Tart.

Not a whole regional delicacy, but Hull has chip spice at it's chippies.

And more from the north East - Panackelty, Cheese Savoury and Pease Pudding.

Staffordshire oat cakes. When I lived there, there was a very old fashioned end of terrace shop that always had a pile of them in the window, when I passed on my way to school.

Chochito · 28/07/2019 23:12

If we're going for drinks, then Newcastle has its Broon Ale. Not sure if it's even made there any more, mind. I think it's made overseas.

PickAChew · 28/07/2019 23:28

This is an interesting article. www.durhamintime.org.uk/durham_miner/miners_food.pdf
MIL often made a broth and was annoyed when her local ASDA stopped selling broth mix and pudding rice, for a while, claiming there was no demand for them! There was controversy when SIL got married because her husband likes his broth with peas and she doesn't!

Tartyflette · 28/07/2019 23:29

London
pease pudding and saveloys
'London' cure smoked salmon
Beigels (NOT bagels) to go with the smoked salmon from, old fashioned Jewish East End delis.

JustTheCrowsAndTheBeef · 28/07/2019 23:37

Pease pudding has so far been claimed for the north-east, West Midlands, and London!

powershowerforanhour · 28/07/2019 23:39

Northern Ireland:
champ
Comber Earlies
soda farls
wheaten bread
potato bread (combining the two themes into one delicious food)

Lough Neagh eels

PickAChew · 28/07/2019 23:42

Yes! I was wondering if it was in the wm or the sw!

In fact are people deliberately winding me up? I asked which region it was in and people are now saying clues in the name and asking if I've never heard of it!
