I saw this last night and - this feels almost like heresy given the money spent and other people who have enthused about it - but it’s not a patch on the original.

Apart from James Earl Jones, the voices were off, the singing wasn’t as good; they’ve made a near remake but it’s just not the same, yet it’s not different enough to be its own star version.

It’s watchable enough, and I nostalgically sang along with everything, but meh.

Interestingly I've just been to see the new Aladdin and I was really impressed. Although it was very similar to the original, there were some changes that worked well and the singing was good and wasn't completely off putting like Lion King. I've heard a few people say the same.

Yeah I really enjoyed the new Aladdin. Think this is harder to do because of no expressions on their faces so it's all down to the voices. Some were a bit lacking.

Stil cried.. A lot. Think it's the music more then anything.

I thought the new Aladdin was brilliant.

Which made The Lion King that much poorer by comparison.

@LetsGoFlyAKiteee I think that was the problem alot of the voices were really flat and lacked expression. There was very little feeling behind it more like they were just reading the words. Also some of the singing was awful

I went to see it tonight, and was quite disappointed. I agree that it is harder to do without the facial expressions. However there was hardly any emotion in the voices. Plus I felt they used too much dialogue. Which then took away from the impact/emotion of scenes.

Yes , scar was not as good as the original
I didn’t like Beyoncé’s voice at all

Don’t know who I would’ve liked to play nala...probably Julie Walters
