Could it have been posted before this date and this sticker still read 25th somehow? I’m having a dispute with someone who is swearing blind that they posted it on Monday but this is what’s on the parcel. Thanks!

No —made up— backstory required, just the handbag, which is now on its way back to you faster than it got to me.

Weathergirl1 · 26/07/2019 17:59

There are some strange people on eBay (but also some really good genuine sellers). I had to send a dress back a few weeks ago because it arrived (late - had already had to chase up to see if it had been dispatched when it hadn't arrived when it was supposed to arrive) and had holes in the material by the shoulder and more in the lining at the back along with a stain, none of which was mentioned or shown in photos on the listing. When I politely messaged them about the description not matching I got a bizarre message back saying that they'd missed them as they hadn't inspected it as closely as I had (implying I was being overly picky) and wanted to negotiate a refund to keep the goodwill 🤷. I got a refund as I wouldn't have ordered it knowing the state it was in but they were really slow to instigate return postage - they must have been prompted to do it by eBay in the end!

If you've got messages proving your conversations about dispatch time in the eBay system then you shouldn't have an issue getting a refund. She's tried guilt tripping you but it'll cost her for having to provide return postage and will hopefully learn a lesson. Bad communication (I don't always mind stuff taking longer to dispatch of there's been a problem but let me know that) and failure to properly describe items are real bug bears of mine!

HollowTalk · 26/07/2019 18:23

Well, she's pulling out all the stops there!

You'll get a refund - she clearly didn't realise that the date was on the stamp.

Dolphinia · 28/07/2019 20:40

Update - I contacted eBay and they told me to do a return which I’ve started and they’ve sent me the return label to print, but this woman is sending me loads of insulting messages now (but still no proof of posting, unsurprisingly)

In her last message she said ‘now may be a good time to tell you we have mutual friends’ which I seriously doubt but have no idea what she’s getting at or trying to achieve.

I can’t call eBay to report her insulting messages which I’m actually feeling quite harrassed by (she’s sent about 6 today) until tomorrow when their customer service reopens.

I can’t see how to block or report her either, either on the app or mobile site.

What’s the best thing to do? I haven’t replied to her last three messages and won’t reply to any more. She’s starting to slightly freak me out...

Fairenuff · 28/07/2019 20:46

Ignore the messages. Report them tomorrow.

Weathergirl1 · 28/07/2019 20:53

Wow, total nutter! Try to ignore the messages until tomorrow OP and as others have said, report to customer services when they reopen. 💐

Hope you had a good wedding yesterday despite the bag issues.

wineandcheeseplease · 28/07/2019 20:57

Ignore them and report her in the morning

Dolphinia · 28/07/2019 21:00

Thanks! She is really bizarre.

Yeah the wedding was great and I managed without a bag, very hungover today though, so have no need for this shit right now Grin

6demandingchildren · 28/07/2019 21:08

If she is sending the messages through Ebay then Ebay can see them once you alert then to it.
Oh and daughter works for the post office and a package can't go through any sort of delivery unless the payment label or stamps are attached.

Dolphinia · 28/07/2019 21:31

Thanks @6demandingchildren yeah I will definitely report the messages and that’s good to know from a PO worker thanks!

It's this sort of fuckwittery that made me give up eBaying.

The final straw was a cover for an ikea sofa bed which was described as brand new with labels from a pet and smoke free home

It was posted out in a cheap bin liner that got ripped to shreds in the post. And was covered in pet fur and stank of fags.

And like you received bizarre and insulting messages when I politely raised this as an issue

AllFourOfThem · 28/07/2019 22:30

What’s the best thing to do? I haven’t replied to her last three messages and won’t reply to any more. She’s starting to slightly freak me out...

Ignore her, report to eBay and if she continues then report to the non emergency police.

NuttyOrNice · 28/07/2019 22:38

Go on OP, post the message you originally sent to her. 😆 Did you really tell her you were crying because you didnt receive the bag. 👀👀

StCharlotte · 28/07/2019 22:48

Ex P.O. staff here and the machine would only print out the correct date - even on Sundays. She's definitely lying.

We may possibly have incorrectly datestamped an item with stamps though Wink

PannacottaLotta · 28/07/2019 23:24

To be fair my DH is a post man and this weather has been absolutely brutal on them!
But thats got nout to do with this crazy ladys excuse for posting your parcel late/not posting it on Monday the cheeky cow! I hope eBay resolve this quickly for you.
This is the kind of batshitness that puts people off eBay.

Dolphinia · 29/07/2019 08:08

@NuttyOrNice haha yeah I did say I was in tears I was so upset! And I actually was Blush but the bag was the last straw that morning due to other stressful stuff. I’d delayed travelling to the wedding by 24 hours too waiting for it as I could have gone the day before which would have made stuff easier generally so I was properly fucked off.

The level of weird from her has made me feel a bit less mental in comparison though Grin

Dolphinia · 29/07/2019 08:10

@PannacottaLotta I’m sorry to hear that, it must have been horrible working outdoors. My first reply when she said about the postmen and the heat was quite understanding but that was before I realised she was lying

Dolphinia · 29/07/2019 08:11

Thanks @StCharlotte, good to have yet more confirmation!

katewhinesalot · 29/07/2019 08:18

Well the "mutual friends" will be interested to hear your side of the story them Grin

wafflyversatile · 29/07/2019 08:23

I took a package to a post office on Saturday but the next pick up wasnt until Monday so I suppose it's possible shes taken it after last pick up that day but I wouldnt have expected the po to be open after last pick up on a monday.

Dolphinia · 29/07/2019 08:29

@MarchionessOfCholmondeley god that’s horrible. I got a coat once which smelt really strongly of smoke from a supposedly ‘pet and smoke free home’ - some people obviously just don’t give a shit!

OP posts:
Dolphinia · 29/07/2019 08:47

Just got off the phone to incredibly nice and helpful eBay customer service man. He read all the messages and said the one about ‘mutual friends’ in particular was threatening and unacceptable so they’re going to suspend her account. He said to ignore any more messages and not to send back the bag, so she’s shot herself in the foot as I would have returned it otherwise.

Does anyone want to buy a nice silver beaded vintage style clutch bag?Grin

CitadelsofScience · 29/07/2019 09:04

It's this kind of batshittery that made me give up using eBay.

Show us the bag?

Pinktinker · 29/07/2019 10:56

This actually happens an awful lot. I’ve had plenty of weird eBay excuses such as a terminally ill Dad, sickness bugs, away on holiday and forgot about the listing, Mother recently died, children in hospital et al.

Funny how people suddenly seem to get sick or die when someone on eBay needs to post something.

PinkDaydreams · 29/07/2019 11:03

I had to get police involved with an eBay seller as he was threatening to come to my house over a baby toy I bought from him that was faulty. The police were lovely and called me numerous times to make sure that I was ok. I felt silly calling police but he kept telling me that he’s got my address and that I need to watch myself. Sad
Unfortunately Ebay wouldn’t suspend his account or allow me to leave negative feedback to warn other buyers, but they did give me my money back.
It’s a shame that some selling idiots let buying from eBay sometimes turn into a negative experience.
