This was most likely sleep paralysis yes?

Last night I had it quite bad. Dreaming of screaming out and sitting up and not being able to move but finding out in the morning this didn’t happen.

This evening I’ve drifted off and felt like I slowly started fitting (I’ve never had a fit) which then got more intense and I tried to call out to my eldest son upstairs. Then I came too, no sign of a fit, no muscle weakness and I didn’t actually cry out. But it’s really freaked me out and I don’t feel like I want to go back to sleep.

If I had of had a fit, I would have known wouldn’t I?

Get up, have a cup of tea or a glass of water. Can you sit in the garden with your drink? I get when v tired and a bit overwrought with life. Grass between toes, look at the stars/night sky. Breathe in and out, in and out.

Clean teeth, back to bed, crappy book if you like.

You are fine, all is well.

(If you still feel awfully strange call a friend for RL reassurance)

Are you stressed at all?I get sleep paralysis when I am, with the added illusion of random faces screaming at me.It's really scary, but definitely a sleep thing. When I wake up my heart is racing but I know now that I'm ok, but need to take it easy

Almost certainly. Obviously, see your GP if it starts to happen at other times.

Yes it's sleep paralysis. I get it when lucid dreaming, it's when ur between a deep sleep & conscious sleep so your aware your awake in your dream if that makes sense. Are you having trouble sleeping?

VirginiaWolfHall · 26/07/2019 09:18

That definitely sounds like it. I got it in the early hours of this morning actually. I learnt about a year ago that if I just relax into it rather than fight it, I will eventually wake up properly, which is an altogether more relaxing experience and usually prevents the urge to fall back to sleep straightaway and slip into it again. But it is scary, and often hard to relax when you get it. I do find that I sometimes get some 'interesting' lucid dreams when I do though, which is something of a bonus Grin

I've had very odd dreams this last week,I'm assuming it's the heat.
