Evenings in the garden

Up to what time is it reasonable to sit and talk in the garden? Normal volume conversation. No neighbours with children

11pm if you have neighbours, yours sound miserable OP.

Trickyteens · 25/07/2019 18:36

@BlueBuilding , talking outside "as late as you like" is unreasonable, if your neighbours can hear it. It's about compromise, and also common courtesy. It is ridiculous to think otherwise. Or self centred.

OP, 10-1030 is reasonable in most people's eyes.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 25/07/2019 18:37

9.30

BlueBuilding · 25/07/2019 18:48

TrickyTeens please stop '@ ing' me, I'm here on the thread and it's completely unnecessary.

And I'm still yet to be convinced that speaking outside after 10pm makes someone a selfish, inconsiderate arsehole. Confused

Lindormilk · 25/07/2019 18:55

Well given they are miserable fuckers id stay out till dawn to fuck them off.

SpeedyShutter · 25/07/2019 19:22

BlueBuilding on mn you're not allowed to breathe too loudly outside in case it disturbs the neighbours.
In the real world, people make noise into the night and as long as it's not overly loud, overly late (e.g. a disco and karaoke beyond midnight) very few people are really bothered. At least, that's how it feels where I am 🤷

TheNestedIf · 25/07/2019 20:43

As late as you like is reasonable as long as you keep your voice right down. Nobody necessarily wants to hear neighbours during the day either.

I have new neighbours upstairs. They were out in the garden last week and I could barely hear a peep. The previous occupants, whilst otherwise lovely, had voices that just could not be escaped.

TheNestedIf · 25/07/2019 20:44

Just to say, that wasn't intended as a contradiction of Trickyteens as I realise it may have come across as I think we basically agree.

Since everyone is going to be having their windows open tonight (assuming you're also in this heatwave) I think as long as the talking is quiet and no music, 10.30 latest.

If my neighbours are making lots of noise tonight past that time I'm going round there. They often sit out laughing / chatting / music playing until 1am (latest has been 5am!) and I am too hot & bothered to put up with listening to them into the night. Don't want my DD disturbed either.
