Interviewing a prospective nanny... in ten ten mins!

Yikes - we have a prospective part-time nanny turning up shortly, and I haven't prepared any questions! She's been recommended by another nanny who looks after DS's friend at school which is a good start. She will be our fourth nanny and only for three after-school sessions per week. We have two DSs, aged 6 and 8. Obviously I will check references and chemistry but do you have any go-to questions for the interview (which will of course be two-way?)?

Thanks!

Just ten mins. Not ten ten.

If she’s your forth nanny then surely you know the questions by heart. Or did it go wrong previously and you think you didn’t vet them properly? A bit late now!

I've never done this! But I guess open questions....?
Can you tell me about why you decided to be a nanny?
What are your favourite things about working as a nanny?
How might your previous employers describe you? And how would their kids describe you?
Our parenting approach / family culture is xxxxxx - how do you feel about that / is that something you'd be comfortable working with?
What would it be most helpful for you to know about our family / kids
Expectations for salary / schedule / babysitting / time off / overtime....?

Thanks. Yep - have done it four times before but not for a number of years and it just crept up on me! I went with similar to the above and it was a very natural, flowing conversation so hopefully it'll work out!

Glad it went well. 🤞🏻
