Can anyone help my poor dd with her hair?!

Poor dd hasn't been blessed with the easiest of hair, it's always been unruly, very dry looking and prone to curl/frizz. Straightening hasn't exactly helped with the condition of it but I don't blame her, as it's the only thing that sort of tames it.
She is so down about it though. She's had a rough few months and seems so fed up about her appearance. Money is a bit tight but I wanted to treat her to a keratin treatment, does anyone have a recommendation for a decent one I could do at home? Preferably with a link!

@GeriAtric you need one without silicones. Superdrug extracts are suitable and cheap, massage it in really well for a good few minutes before rinsing it all clean out
It can take time, especially if you have a build up of silicone on the hair, and detangle when the hair is soaking wet with conditioner on it
I haven't used shampoo for about 2-3 years now

DO NOT USE HEAT that is why her hair is frizzy

Not necessarily true, mine is naturally frizzy regardless of what I do with it.

I recommend coconut oil treatments and not brushing when dry.

You need a decent spray conditioner to leave in the hair

Coconut is also a tricky one. Some hair adores it, some hair gets frizzy from the slightest trace of coconut so some trial and error involved! You can leave in any conditioner that's silicone free

Find a good hairdresser who is good with curls. Lots say they are but in reality struggle with anticipating the bounce. You are cutting when it is wet and straight, but my hair is a lot shorter when dry. A good cut makes all the difference. I twist my hair when wet and then it forms ringlets as it dries.

use "mixed chicks" products

Coconut mimics protein and my hair HATES it. It goes dry, course and wiry, like I have a head full of pubes Hmm

Curly Girl is a miracle worker. I like the Superdrug Extracts conditioner as it's super cheap and not too heavy for my hair.

The problem is there is no way she will give up the straighteners! She doesn't blow dry and uses them on very low setting always with heat protectant. I appreciate that she should be embracing the curls and one day she may but at the moment it's not an option!

I was going to say beware coconut oil, my hair also hates it!

Lots and lots of hair masques. I have the same hair (although now I use bumble and bumble and totally embrace the waves). The only thing that helped me when I wanted it straight was wash rarely, use a hair masque instead of conditioner, heat protection spray and argon oil on the ends. And lots of regular cuts! Hair up in a pineapple at night helped to reduce grease and the overnight sticky mess that causes waves. A micro fibre towel too.
