From the time your offer was accepted until completion, how long did it take? And how long was the chain?

3-4 months. 0 in the chain.

It took me 4 months to buy my current house.
It took me over 2 years to sell my previous property due to people messing me around by lying. Unfortunately you there is no security until contracts have been exchanged! Bloody stressful!

Our last move took nearly 5 months. The one before was 3 months. Good luck, I hope it all goes smoothly for you x

It's like how longs a piece of string! We're buying and selling at the moment but with a house in the middle so not a chain. The house we're selling went in the market at the beginning of May, exchanged yesterday. All nice and simple. 3 months start to finish.
House we're buying, first viewed in November and made an offer immediately but for various reasons (not ours!) not going to complete until end of August - 9 months. And here was I worried the sale might hold up the purchase! You just can never tell!

Icebear, I would love to know which solicitor you are! We bought in Scotland and were cash buyers. It took three months of blood sweat and tears to get to the finish line. The Solicitors were absolutely useless despite having won some award for being good. I would never use them again. I nearly had a nervous breakdown over it. We also paid far too much in retrospect but were given no guidance and the Solicitor couldn't be bothered to do any research.

3 months, 3 in the chain
