Feels like gallstones - but no gallbladder!

Whole family has had a stomach bug last week - I had it last, a day of vomiting last Wednesday and then an upset stomach since.

Everyone is still struggling with their tummies (diarrhoea, sorry TMI). But this morning I felt extremely nauseous. Then this afternoon it hit me really hard - bad nausea, stomach cramps but no diarrhoea.

What’s worrying me is that I have discomfort / pressure in my upper abdomen underneath my sternum, and aching in my back around waist level.

This is very similar to early symptoms when I had a severe gallbladder infection and pancreatitis nearly 10 years ago, but they removed my gallbladder. I’ve had no problems at all with it since - no issues with spicy or fatty foods, etc.

It’s definitely not pain, it’s not agonising or tender, I can prod the area without pain etc. I don’t have a fever, or a fast pulse, my BP is at the bottom end of my normal range (101/67 - I only know this as my watch measures BP and pulse and is pretty accurate). It can’t possibly be pancreatitis as I remember well the awful pain and fever that came with that. I know it’s usually caused by gallstones or excessive alcohol consumption - I have no gallbladder and i barely ever drink, special occasions only, I’ve had one glass of wine since May and that was a couple of weeks ago.

Anyone experienced anything like this especially after a stomach bug? I will obviously call 111 if this discomfort turns into proper pain or I get any other bad symptoms, I’m just trying to figure out what it could be.

I also get pain similar to gall stone pain though I've had my gall bladder removed. It can be excruciating at times.

I'm on Ompeprazole for acid reflux, which helps and I've just had a camera down my throat and into my stomach and all was okay. (They even provide photos now!). I'd still speak to the GP to make sure it's nothing serious, but, you're not alone.

?choledocholithiasis. You get it when you’ve had your gallbladder removed but there is a stone or stones left in your common bile duct. If it’s recurrent or very severe you need a scan.

Sphincter of Odii. Take Buscopan, an over the counter miracle for gall pain. Go and get it now, and thank me later Grin Obviously, see a doctor if that doesn't work.

Thanks all - I know things can flare up if a stone is left behind but I would have thought it would have happened sooner as my surgery was so long ago.

Last night the upper abdominal pressure eased off but this morning it’s threatening a comeback. Will see how it goes.

Thanks all :)
