Hi, thinking of going to Liverpool next week with the three children aged 12,10, and 4. I'm familiar enough to shop but have only been twice.
We are going to the maritime museum and world museum and thinking of staying overnight at a Travelodge. Which one is best placed for the museums and the centre?
Any recommendations for where to eat and anywhere else to visit would be great too Smile

We are travelling by train into Lime Street station.

There's 3 Liverpool Central travelodges and they're all well-placed.
All of the museums in Liverpool are free and as well as the Maritime Museum, there's the World Museum and the Museum of Liverpool Life. All 3 are worth a visit.
If it's a clear day, do the Radio City Tower your. It's about £5 per person but you can see for miles.
Ferry is a good way to spend an hour and if you like the Beatles, you can get the 86 bus to Penny Lane and see that. You could then also go to John Lennon's house on the 76 bus or get back on an 86 and go on to Forthlin Road (Paul McCartney's house)

What sort of food do you like? Theirs so much choice in the city centre and beyond I know pizza is generally a kid friendly food in which case I'd recommend Rudy's on castle street, great pizza and very reasonably priced. If you have any particular food type in mind I'll try think of somewhere

We don't like the Beatles and half of us won't eat pizza 🙄 thanks for the info on the hotels-I'll get it booked. It's not far from here to Liverpool - about 2 hours but don't want to have to rush our time there so might as well stay.

There are lots of lovely places to eat on Bold Street. If you go down to the Albert Dock to do the Maritime museum, there's a little cafe called Puffle Waffle which is by the Beatles Museum, it's a bit spenny but a nice treat for kids for ice creams / waffles / hot chocolates etc. My 7 & 10 year olds loved it.
The Museum of Liverpool is worth a look too. And the library near the World Museum. Second the idea of the ferry too.

Also go to the Walker art gallery next to the World Museum. The younger kids might not want to walk round but there’s a fun crafts room for them.

Oh dear I thought pizza was a safe bet, in that case I second taking a wander down bold street as it's got lots of nice independents. You'll also find plenty of places to eat at the Albert dock near the maritime museum but they're generally high end chains eg Miller and Carter, gustos etc. If you're happy with a more chilled place you could look at the Baltic market which has many different food stalls selling all sorts (this would only work if you're going at the weekend as its closed mon-wed)

I second Bold Street. Also Hope Street, which has lots of restaurants and bars too.
