Abu Dhabi - Saadiyat Island cost of eating out *Thread title edited by MNHQ*

Later this year, I'll be having a luxury splurge at the Hyatt Park hotel (breakfast included) in Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island.(Please let this not turn into a thread about 'I would not ever go to Abu Dhabi / UAE).

The question is whether there is anywhere to eat in Saadiyat Island outside of the large hotels / luxury resorts?

I have an option of half board for £38 per day - which is cheaper than pay as you go at the hotel - but if there are some not outrageously expensive eating places within a reasonable distance, I would like the flexibility of eating out.

My internet researches reveal a Starbucks and a Waitrose! They also reveal late afternoon (4pm - 6pm) snacks / mini meals at the Park Hyatt - which is a bit early.

Many thanks

Thanks, MNHQ!

And any pointers on costs of eating out - if in fact there is anywhere outside the hotels / resorts on Island - gratefully received!

Can't help with Saadiyat Island as we've never stayed there but Abu Dhabi is amazing. We usually stay in one of the hotels on has Island so just pop to Yas Mall to eat.

Thanks you, iheart - I'lll be 20m away from Yas but Abu Dhabi mall is closer (4 miles away) and an option. Good idea on the food courts in the malls assuming I can tear myself away from the beaches Smile

I started another thread on whether there are any 'must sees' on what's basically a week of beach R&R - and if you have any suggestions as an Abu Dhabi enthusiast, I'd love to hear them -

So far I'm thinking of a city taking in the main mosque and probably a Friday brunch somewhere (if they are a 'thing' like in Dubai). And someone on the other thread has suggested a visit to the falcon hospital - which sounds different!

We spend a lot of time in the Middle East as DH works there but we usually have kids with us. If you like Water Parks the one at Yas island is brilliant...kids prefer it to the ones in Dubai. Mosque is definitely worth a visit...we went at sunset so the views were breathtaking with the sun setting behind it. There is a Louvre opened up there now as well.

When are you going? Might be too hot at the moment but every Sunday and Tuesday night you can either run, walk or cycle round the F1 track...it’s my son’s favourite part of the holiday. I don’t even like F1 but it’s an amazing experience.

Oh, the Louvre is amazing. And you can kayak round it. You can also kayak in the mangroves near Yas island. And one of the palaces is open to guests now, at the end of the Corniche. I’ve not been, but will go when it’s cooler.

Oh wow - I used kayak a lot so would love to kayak round the mangroves!
