Been offered a job supporting care leavers that are living independently but with 24 hour support workers.
Im with an agency and i have done one days training so far have another two to go. Im supporting young adults so from 16-18 and have been warned that sometimes they can have challenging behaviour.

I cant imagine this training is going to be enough for me to be able to do my job properly? Also worried about putting myself in danger as i will be sleeping there once a week.

Presumably you'll never be there as the only staff member? I'd ask for some more details on what challenging behaviour means - but they're not going to stab you in their sleep.

Have you raised teenagers of your own?

What sort of challenging behaviour? That term can mean different things.

If they pose a risk there should be risk assessments.

They are likely to pose more of a risk to themselves, sadly.

It could be a tough job though, but more because of the difficulty engaging with yp in this situation.

This is what I do for a living, but my crew are 21-25.

Where you sleep will have a coded door to get in. You won't be in danger while you sleep.
