Things to do in and around Sleaford with 13 and 9 year old

We are camping nearby for a few days over the holidays. We have never stayed in the area before and want to make the most of the few days we have. If the weather is nice we would be happy to travel if there are nearby beaches and towns worth visiting?

And any suggestions if the weather is more typically British 🙄

Thank you

Sleaford isn't that great tbh.

You could daytrip to Lincoln (castle, cathedral, shopping)

Or Grantham (Belton House NT with good adventure playground)

15 miles or so further south is Rutland Water (cycle path, watersports, ospreys) and Stamford (pretty town where Middlemarch was shot, Burghley House)

Or drive a bit longer and hit the coast at Skegness (kitsch, 'so bracing')

Wood hall Spa is a small village that has a nice outdoor swimming pool plus a quirky cinema.

I was about to say Woodhall Spa!

East Kirkby Bomber Command museum is very interesting, you see the planes up close and there are good ww2 displays. It was started by the family of an airman who was killed in action.

Sutton on Sea is quieter and more relaxed than Skegness. Hope you have a nice visit!

My first thought was Lincoln too! Woodhall Spa is lovely plenty of tearooms and ice cream shops. You are about an hour from the beach though. Battle of Britain is at Coningsby if that’s your sort of thing it’s worth a visit.

I don’t know the area amazingly well but I am there for work (for a few days at a time) occasionally so know it a bit.

Lincoln is nice with loads to see, or a bit outside of Lincoln (heading towards Sleaford actually) if you fancy a really nice meal or great afternoon tea Washingborough Hall is a good bet - www.washingboroughhall.com/

That area is fab for walking/rambling/cycling - how about a lovely bike ride stopping for lunch or afternoon tea on the way? V easy to hire bikes in Lincoln, IIRC they have a scheme a bit like the Boris bikes in London. Wouldn’t matter too much if it was wet if you had a nice lunch somewhere planned in to allow you to warm up part way through the day.

How about horse riding? I would have loved that at your DC’s ages and the terrain is pretty easy.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been there but this used to be a nice place to eat www.marquisnorthgate.co.uk/index.htm
