Anyone have Non white (or plain wood) interior doors?

I have an old new build (about 2001). It has the bog standard shitty cheap doors. I've always hated them but there are 23 so it's a really expensive job to get them all replaced. They need painted but i've wondered if they would less cheap and shitty if they weren't white.

Anyone have their interior doors a different colour and what are they like and if you like them, what colour are they?

Obviously they will all have to be the same so will need to b very neutral and go with everything. Downstairs we have wooden floor and upstairs mainly plain, beigy/minky colour carpet.

We replaced all of ours with wood veneered doors (from B&Q, I think) a few years ago. They still look fabulous. Just get them properly fitted and put some good quality handles on.

Thanks Jaxhog so how much did that cost per door?

Hi op yes I renovated my 1930s house around 18 months ago. Luckily I inherited all of the original doors, sadly they were absolutely disgusting. The owner was a chain smoker. I couldn't be arsed or afford to have them dipped and the initial white kept yellowing despite undercoat.

I ended up painting them in a f&b copy Worsted...I was inspired by an interiors acct on IG. Have posted my before & afters!!

Not necessarily these pastel colours but an idea using Frenchic paint

my post was to bored but I like that idea too Soola but I wouldn't want to draw attention to the arch as that's the bit I hate the most.

I think worsted might be too dark but something along those lines was where my head was.

I’m not keen on that arch either! Why didn’t they just go straight across instead of doing that!

Frenchic paint all over would hwlp play that down.

They have a Facebook page I believe.

They are truly horrible and i've been resisting painting them as I'd really like to replace them, but even for modest doors we are talking thousands as they aren't all standard sizes and a couple of them are glazed and some have been used as sliding wardrobe doors.

Thanks soola - i'll have a look at those sites/pages. Thinking of roping in eldest DS as he at a loose end on uni holidays and I understand that that type of paint goes on pretty well?

Posh nelly or pebble are light greys

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/07/2019 21:34

Oh and they have gold handles with a wee pattern round the edge...really, what was someone thinking! Handles should be an easier/cheaper job.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/07/2019 21:39

I actually like some of the darker greys but think that will probably be a harder sell to DH. Or I could just do what I want and he can find somewhere else to live! Grin

We have the same doors as @GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough we have varnished ours, just clear-ish

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/07/2019 21:49

If I could afford it, that's what I would like Grow. If they have a wax finish, I'd leave them. They'll need something I think as the wood will get dirty and be hard to clean (I think). I'd stick with that colour though as it's lovely. How much did they cost if you don't mind me asking?

Todd doors (I think)

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 19/07/2019 21:53

We have a Howdens account and there was a sale on i can't remember but they were about £60/70 each

DontCallMeShitley · 19/07/2019 21:59

Our nice doors were removed by the previous owners and replaced with plain wood glass panelled ones downstairs which are OK but the upstairs ones are revolting plain ones, no panels, painted white. I know what should be here because my neighbour still has them and they are the lovely panelled ones.

I like plain wood but they have been painted a deep cream colour with pale blue panels and they look a lot nicer than it sounds.

CherryPavlova · 19/07/2019 22:02

Ancient, vernacular, solid oak doors throughout. Wrought iron fittings.
