Wasp nest?

Noticed this morning this wasp nest in the garden shed. I have seen a few going in and out but was shocked at the size of the nest.

I have called Rentokill they quoted £278! A local company wants £68 but was looking at a spray for about £5 on Amazon which claims to remove the nest.
What do you think should I try the diy approach?

Try local council. Ours will come out and remove one for about £50.

And personally the last thing I'd do with a wasps nest is spray it. I mean what could possibly go wrong?

£68 sounds good to me. You need to get rid of it asap.

I've got a wasps nest outside my house. I rang the Council yesterday and they are charging £62 to get rid of it. I wouldn't tackle it myself!!

We got two removed for free using our house insurance. Worth checking?

We paid £45 last year through council referred contractor.

My Dad found one in his shed. He sprayed it with a hose, it didn’t end well.
I would recommend the local company, it seems quite reasonable.

We had a local pest control man out to remove a wasp nest in our wall. I wouldn’t do it yourself, the wasps go crazy. My dh went out into the garden to close the gate as the man left, and was stung quickly. Ours cost £50. Whereabouts are you? If close to me, I’ll pm the number of the guy we used.

We had one but we left it.

Thank you my elderly neighbour came around just after I posted and sprayed the opening of the nest with something he had bought from Wilko.

The nest has now dropped into a washing up bowl he had put underneath and have loads of dead wasps and cells with larvae. My lovely neighbour said he has done this several times over the past few years at different family members homes/garden.

He has saved me a lot of money so a nice bottle of whiskey will be added to my online delivery for him.
