My husband ate a sweet he found in our daughter's car. He feels extremely disorientated and unwell now. It m ay not be linked at all, but we have suddenly thought could the sweet have actually been a drug? Totally shocked, praying it isn't. Does anyone recognise these? Thanks so much.

This remind me of the episode in Cuckoo when Ken takes his teenage son’s E thinking they are painkillers for his back.

Ken goes on to have a great night dressed up as a Dixie Midnight Runner and gatecrashing a teenage party.

Should be on Netflix for those who fancy seeing it.

Can’t believe how many people have friend coke and MDMA. My eyes have been opened and I will never see Mumsnet in quite the same way after tonight Grin

just the one pm. I simply asked if you were accusing me of lying? To those who asked, naturally we took the bag (paper as I said - I never mentioned tissue...) and contents along to A+E with us for examination.

Why pm? Why not ask here?

Did this nurse Id the substance, the exact dosage that was in it and 100% confident it could not be anything else?

Because she really should have discharged before a doctor saw him, based on her opinion of 'ah he will be right', despite not really knowing what he took

My drug-savvy friend says the photos are identical to CRACK. Definitely, positively CRACK.

No, they're just sweets. Probably out of date. Definitely not drugs. At the most they're cannibas sweets, but they would taste like arse so I very much doubt it.

Source: I've actually been around a fuck load of drugs in my life

Op’s other half must be Rasputin’s younger brother, then, since ingesting one of them just caused him to need a short nap.

Why on earth are you "horrified and disgusted". Are you a Puritan or armish? Do you drink alcohol or drink coffee as a pick me up? If so that's a bit pot calling the kettle black?

Report
Marshmallow91 · 19/07/2019 20:15

And whoever is saying they're crack is talking shite. It crumbles too easily and would smell like petrol. And it would taste really sharp, foosty and definitely something he would spit out.

And also crack is kept in plastic bags because it crumbles when you rub it around in your fingers. He would be extremely thirsty if he'd ate it and probably vomit and feel clammy and sweaty.

Wow op PMing people because you don't like what they've said on a thread is not OK. And I agree you really need to develop your SOH. 'This thread is fucking hilarious. No one was thankfully hurt and the story is really really funny. Lighten up.

Daughter picked up from airport-talking to us both tonight about this. As a caring parent, I am horrified and disgusted that she has taken drugs, no matter what age she she is. She lives at home, we support her, and this has been a total shock. Can we bring it to a close now? It's not particularly funny and I was grateful for people's helpful comments early on.

I would be disgusted too OP. And I'm not talking from a Pearl clutching perspective. I'm talking as the wife of an ex drug addict (clean before we met thankfully and ever since - it's years now) but the long term effects are not to be laughed about. And yeah, he started off on cannibas then excused every drug on the next step afterwards to a full blown cocaine user and every other that was available .

It was "fun" "it was a laugh" "I wasn't addicted" bollocks. Knowledgeable about it all, always an excuse of why he was different to all the others. Yada yada

Much better now but it still flashes into our life now and again.

Live with the mood swings and paranoia then be all smug and take the piss.

In no way I'm laughing about this link because it's tragic but a 3 year old putting something in their mouth they've mistaken for a sweet is terrible and I really hope the little girl pulls through but for an adult to do the same is just ridiculous

Not seeing how this thread is really funny. Yes, it started that way, but how some posters think that an 18yo having (possibly) drugs in her car which her father took inadvertently, is funny ...🤷🏻‍♀️ [note - I haven't a clue myself but every second poster is confidently declaring what it is, except so far a whole variety of possibilities have been asserted as definites]

The attitude & comments to OP have been really nasty.

I hope your husband is feeling better and I hope you’re ok too. Not a nice thing to have to resolve with your daughter. Bit troubling that people see this as funny. It’s horrible stuff and people who react badly to it can become extremely ill. Sending you best wishes

Hi, these sweets appear to be pineapple dried sweets, I have done a search and they looked to be these pineapple fruit sweets. I do hope this helps.

So what about the shit hitting the fan?? Intrigued to hear how the convo went. Still don't understand why DH would try something wrapped in tissue, hidden in the car.....😂

BBOA · 19/07/2019 22:23

And you are right, it's not funny from a parenting point of view as we will all have to have similar discussions with our kids. We can only protect them so much and they are going to try these things whatever we do or say to try and stop them.

Report
Pliudev · 19/07/2019 22:34

I don't understand why, if they were drugs, she left them in the glove compartment of her car? Without trawling through I don't really know how the conversation went but if it had been crack wasn't there quite a lot of it?
