If you don't wake up feeling tired

If you don't wake up feeling absolutely knackered, please tell me what you do? Is the key really early bedtimes, an amazing diet, tons of exercise. Or does everyone feel like this and I just need to suck it up

Will follow with interest... Some mornings I feel like I haven’t slept!

Theredjellybean · 18/07/2019 14:09

I exercise regularly, don't watch much tv so go to bed early and read, I eat carefully to maintain a healthy weight.
I don't often use my phone or laptop at night.
But I think it is perceptions... Life is quite knackering, we expect to be bouncy and full of life, glossy hair, great skin, wonderfully fulfilling jobs, relationships etc etc.. If we don't we feel we must be doing something wrong.
You're probably no more tired than anyone else...its just some people deal with it differently.

Amibeingdaft81 · 18/07/2019 14:13

Exercise
Very busy
Eat very well - I never eat junk, crisps, sweets etc. Lots of fish, veg, fruits etc
I don’t eat after 7.30pm
Light off by 10.30

I use 2x CBD spray if i have a big day at work next day.
I take 5htp supplement before bed

I’m not the best sleeper. I always wake once for the loo and I can’t sleep beyond 5.30am! But my sleep quality is good and I fall to sleep in nanoseconds.

Combination means I don’t feel tired

Feel genuinely like I'd do anything to stay asleep in the morning. Put DC to bed for a nap and found myself napping instead of tidying which I'd been putting off until DC's naptime!!

Have so many bad habits, it's time to tackle it!

I wake up tired every single day even after 9 hours of quality sleep, I eat well & recently gave up alcohol to see if that would help but it hasn't.

Doctors appointment tomorrow though as i'm possibly at a 'funny age'

Amibeingdaft81 · 18/07/2019 14:15

Sounds bloody awful and absolutely not how I feel.
I wake up and don’t feel tired.

Imstickingwiththisone · 18/07/2019 14:19

Amibeingdaft that's good to know. I never bother to change anything as I think I'll still feel the same, everyone feels this way etc.

I rarely drink alcohol
Exercise most days & weekend longer
Plenty of fruit & vegetables & very little meat or cheese
I sleep about 6/7 hours and only during tree pollen session wake feeling bad

I do use tablets etc before bed, but not excessively

babysharkah · 18/07/2019 14:29

I go to bed at 10 and fall straight asleep. Am up just before 6. Fitbit tells me I average about 7 hours actually asleep.

Any alcohol even a glass of wine makes me toss and turn, as does coffee after about 3pm so when I do drink or have coffee I fully expect a bad night.

Dh wakes feeling tired but he doesn't go to bed until about 11 and is up at the same time as me.

Amibeingdaft81 · 18/07/2019 14:31

@babysharkah
What’s your “deep sleep” recorded?

Mine is circa 1.5 hours. I thought that was not good but turns out, it is!

MatchSetPoint · 18/07/2019 14:36

You sound like your waking up in the middle of a sleep cycle, try waking thirty minutes to earlier to wake up in a different part of your sleep cycle.

babysharkah · 18/07/2019 14:38

@Amibeingdaft81 usually about an hour - have hit 2 a couple of times though.

Imstickingwiththisone · 18/07/2019 14:43

Matchsetpoint alarms for my wake me. The only noise that wakes me is the DC. Baby step number one is to get up before the DC tomorrow, even if I feel like shit for it. Goal tonight is to be in bed for 10 and no more caffeine from now.

I was sleeping terribly and decided to cut coffee. I feel SO much better and I'm sleeping like a log. It took about 1.5 weeks of sleeping any chance I got (I think I just had to catch up) and now I'm all back to normal. I'm still reluctant to leap out of bed in the morning but that's just because being well slept feels so nice.

Good luck in your quest.

whothedaddy · 18/07/2019 15:54

drink lots of water, no phone/tablet before bed. i run daily, eat healthy and take iron supplements.

Exercise is the number 1 think to regulate my body clock. get really tired, sleep really well, wake rested.

whothedaddy · 18/07/2019 15:56

also I gave up eating meat. It caused digestive discomfort that kept me awake ( I can still eat fish though)

HJWT · 18/07/2019 15:57

Have 8 hours max of straight sleep, if I wake up once I'm screwed!

hadthesnip2 · 18/07/2019 15:58

I don't exercise
I am overweight
I eat ok but still eat chocolate & cakes
I get about 5 hours sleep
Feel great all day.

Reason is my CPap machine. Diagnosed with sleep apnoea 2 years ago. Never slept better since.

Sammysquiz · 18/07/2019 15:59

Do you feel ok once you’ve been awake for a bit, or are you tired all day?

Monday55 · 18/07/2019 16:11

I don't set an alarm anymore and I naturally wake up between 7am & 8am. If I set an alarm for 8am tomorrow I can guarantee you I'll struggle to wake up and feel extremely tired. There's something psychological about the alarm.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/07/2019 16:18

I exercise a lot
I eat reasonably well and probably eat less sugar and junk food than most people.

I wake up wide awake because for 7 years I've had children who can't/won't sleep properly and it's trained my body to survive on reduced sleep I think. I get 6.5 hours a night now and that feels like a lot. I've slept much better since giving up dairy, although that wasn't why I gave it up; increased by 30 minutes a night.

Waking naturally with daylight is supposed to help as well I think?

Candyfloff · 18/07/2019 16:21

I'm the same OP, can sleep 8-8 and still feel exhausted.
But my iron and Vitamin D was on the floor and I've been prescribed high dose iron and rapid recovery Vit D.
My GP believes I am suffering from some sort of malabsorption.
I would ask for a blood test if I were you.
