It's just over an hour's drive from Dublin. Could you not get the ferry from Holyhead?

LorelaiRoryEmily · 17/07/2019 22:01

Fly to Dublin and hire a car or get the ferry and drive? It’s really not hard to figure outConfused I live about 40 minutes away from it

LorelaiRoryEmily · 17/07/2019 22:02

*get the ferry and drive your own car

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 17/07/2019 22:06

How do you get to any CentreParcs? None of them are city centre as far as I know.....

swapsicles · 17/07/2019 22:06

Drive i presume, get the appropriate ferry and carry on with the journey. You might have to pay a fortune to put bikes in the hold!
I have friends who go to Ireland regularly to see family and sometimes they'll stop this side of the ferry and get a very early one which will be cheaper.

Eaudear · 17/07/2019 22:09

Like others have said, ferry from Holyhead and then drive?

ThreeFish · 17/07/2019 22:09

Or ferry to Belfast, and drive your own car it’s about 2 1/2 or 3 hours.

Pomegranatemolasses · 17/07/2019 22:09

Two hour drive from Dublin.

JaneJeffer · 17/07/2019 22:11

You should ask them to move it closer to you.

Eaudear · 17/07/2019 22:12

It's not even 2 hours if there's no traffic.

TheCraicDealer · 17/07/2019 23:10

Weird question- sure the Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs is 1hr away from the nearest airport, Longleat is 1hr 6mins from Southampton airport so Longford at 1hr 15mins from Dublin is hardly odd. I would imagine the number of people who fly to go to any Centre Parcs would be a minority- they're mainly catering to the local market who are driving so it makes sense to be in the midlands.

I thought the point of Centre Parcs (I hear from my English DH and friends, anyway) is that it's all self contained and they're fairly standard so you know what to expect. Why incur the travel costs to Ireland if there's one you could drive to?

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 17/07/2019 23:20

I'm not sure why you would? Wouldn't one in the midlands make more sense?

MoltonSilver · 17/07/2019 23:46

You're unlikely to find a quiet forest in a city, beside an airport. The whole appeal of centre parks is the rural location. You're being silly.

Zucker · 17/07/2019 23:53

A centreparcs just off the m50 wouldn't have the same sense of peace and quiet would it really?

AllSweetnessAndLight · 18/07/2019 00:04

Fly into Belfast or Dublin.
Car Ferry into Belfast, Rosslare or Dublin Port.

Google maps will lead you to it from your location. Check their website for a 'how to get here' tab.

It’s Longford OP, not Middle Earth

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 18/07/2019 04:53

Center Parcs? Peace and quiet? Ha! They are like shopping malls with trees.

Fancified · 18/07/2019 04:56

@Boscoismyspiritanimal Grin.

cardamoncoffee · 18/07/2019 07:05

I looked into this as I have family just outside Dublin and thought it might be a nice break. The Irish response to the price is hilarious, check out the facebook page for a laugh.

Kizzysmum · 18/07/2019 08:37

Ferry is more flexible. And Centre Parcs has done a special deal with Irish Ferries so you can get 25% off. The ferry fare I mean.
