Only ever had Ikea bedding, and not even their expensive ones. As a present, looking to get some nice good quality/luxury/soft amazing bed sheets. What kind of thing do I want re thread count etc and any companies/brands you’d recommend? Want to get this right if I splurging!

I’ve just bought Secret Linen linen sheets, and love them. They are beautifully soft, but you have to like the crumpled bed look.

La Redoute posh bedding is pretty nice.

Those with White Company bed linen - do you not find the duvet covers and sheets oversized? The super king flat sheet is ridiculously big and the duvet covers are way too big for the duvet resulting in lots of 'empty' fabric both at sides and top and bottom. It drives me and my OH mad!
So although the fabric is lovely, I probably wouldn't buy again...

Have a look at Ada and Ina Linens. I have 3 sets, they are luxurious.

Is linen soft? In my head linen isn’t soft, but happy to be educated!

I find Dorma's sateen (200 thread count) to be the best by far. They're so silky on the skin and they wash well and don't shrink at 60 degrees.

I've tried Cologne & Cotton and they're pretty decent (apart from the creasing), tried M&S (poor quality I thought....I've had better from cheap Ikea), even Clarissa Hulse (not the best quality - I've met Clarissa and she used to make some beautiful things but quality has understandably dropped now she's gone mass-market) but I always go back to my Dorma bedding. Dorma were taken over by Dunelm so I'm not sure if that has had an impact or not as my bedding pre-dates the takeover.

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/07/2019 15:21

Oops, sorry that was 300 thread count for Dorma's sateen, not 200.

I had soak and sleep linen ones, i found i had to iron the linen one's after washing the first couple of times, because they were a little rough and I don't tumble dry, they were lovely after an iron.
However I've had secret linen too and i really regret spending money on those as they were higher priced than S&S and rough as F**k even after using softener , ironing and i even took them to my mums to tumble but no luck. I hate them, love the colour though.

I’m now getting bedding adverts on Facebook!
Have had linen bundle come up, anyone had them?

Actually on my bed it only just fits (superking bed)

Oldraver · 19/07/2019 16:57

My Soak and Sleep linen was a little stiff/scratchy at first but a few washes and the are lovely

Not as soft as my years old Christy ones but all good sheets should get better with age

LifeOfBox · 19/07/2019 17:11

Mine aren't new Oldraver. They really don't compare very well to the White Company linen bedding.

TreeSunset · 20/07/2019 22:44

Whilst I’m here, what duvet do I want to put inside my new posh covers? Of which I might end up with only one set that has to come off in the morning washed and back on at night!

A lightweight Baavet. Unless you Really feel the cold then a medium/heavyweight one.
Summer I have a 4 tog hollowfibre from MandS it's fine.

But hot weather means a nice flat sheet and maybe a cotton waffle blanket from John Lewis- yet more splurging Grin
