Help. There's a (live) mouse in my Dyson

My half witted cat bought in a mouse last night and started chasing it round the landing. Dh grumpily stomped down to play tom and jerry, where hilariously the mouse ran over his foot and crawled under my vacuum cleaner I'd left there. We know its still inside, as said stupid cat sat and watched it all night, and has gone back to day watch this morning.
The dust container is full and needs emptying. Normally I'd empty it straight into the bin, but I can't do that to poor mousy. But I think it's probably in the sucky bit at the bottom. Dh is going to have to take the whole thing apart, isn't he?

Take the dyson outside to the garden and lay it on its side so the mouse can get out. Just leave it out there for a while until you think its gone. Keep the cat indoors for the day.
No doubt the cat will catch another mouse though

I don’t think it’s the cat that’s half witted! GrinWink

If it got on then it can get out! No need to take apart.

Just put outside with the opening on the side as suggested.

I wouldn't guarantee it's still inside. The various cats I have owned have all managed to lose mice whilst 'on guard' at the spot they think they are at. The cats will not be convinced the mouse is not there, it's quite funny....

Why does dh need to do it? Why can't you?

Sparklyring · 17/07/2019 09:34

@howdyalikemenow For goodness sake!! I'd get my husband to do it too.

Because I'm hopeless at taking things apart, and don't mind admitting it. There's things he's hopeless at that I do. We are part of a team. It's one of the reasons we've been together 34 years...

For what it's worth I half wittedly emptied it on the compost heap, no sign of mousy. ( visits to compost heap usually another blue job, as a while ago there was a big fat rat on top, shame the cat can't do a proper job)

I've turned it upside down and can't see it, so it's either gone up the tube, or as another poster suggested has got out. It's probably running around on if the dcs bedrooms, ds slept through the whole incident, so may be in for a bit of a shock Wink
