Would this work (holiday booking related)

Random one.

We are booking a summer holiday for next summer. Me, DH, DD (11) and DS (8), DM and DF.

At the moment the offer is ‘one free child place’ per booking therefore booking one child respectively with each set of adults would mean both children travel free.

The hotel rooms sleep up to 4 (we are repeat guests at this hotel and have been several times) and would just contact the hotel to ask if they could set the rooms up for both children to be with us rather than one with the GPs.

Would this arrangement work? Can anyone see any pitfalls? The only thing I am thinking is if we just booked us as a family of 4 and them as a couple, should something happen to prevent travel (illness or whatever) then the other ‘party’ can still go whereas having one child on each booking complicates things. Is there a way round that?

Thanks.

My Dsis her dh and two ds went with dm an df. One of my nephews was booked in with my parents and i be with my sis no problem so 2 free child places. Can't see how it would work though if one set of adults had to cancel

It may depend if the room you book is a twin/3 or a twin/4. There will lots of room types/sizes at the hotel. If you book a twin/3 there may literally be no room for the 4th person.

There is only one room type. It’s a double room with two sofas at the balcony end. Both sofas can be single beds. There is no other room type (other than suites) to choose from and we’ve been loads so are quite familiar.

It’s just the cancellation thing that worries me. This is 13 months away. DM had cancer 3 years ago and although she is clear (and declares and pays appropriately on her insurance) she is paranoid if she got ill again in the next 12 months then having a child on her booking would very much complicate things and we 4 wouldn’t be able to go as an independent 4. It’s about risk I suppose.

If the parent’s were unable to go, it’s likely you could amend your booking to add the extra child at full child price (plus probably an admin fee maybe).

I’d hope so. I wonder if I speak to the holiday company directly if they could confirm? Or would they just say no as it’s the cheaper option for us?

There will still be a seat on the plane and room in the hotel so I'm sure it would be fine. If it's a big difference I'd risk it

It’s £1200!!!
