Best activity for under 5s in London

My daughters have been given afternoon tea in London (The Tiger who came to tea one) and I wanted to make a bit of a day of it.

They aren't really in to sitting still so theatre isn't an option and we have done London Zoo/Aquarium/Science Museum recently so keen to avoid them!

Would appreciate any recommendations! Tea is late afternoon so we have the best part of a day and budget isn't too much of an issue.

Thank you in advance!

The transport museum in Covent garden is good - lots of things to play on/ with

Feeding the birds (and very tame squirrels) in one of the parks. Or maybe a ride on a bus?

One of my friends spent ££££ on a trip to London with her kids when they were small, and was rather put out to discover that the thing they liked best of all was the train ride there and back Grin

Thank you! Probably should've mentioned that we lived London until recently so have slightly done the park scene do death 🤪

The discover centre in Stratford is nice and they have a judith Kerr exhibition at the moment which fits nicely with your tea.

georgialondon · 15/07/2019 16:17

I've been to the tiger who came to tea at the discovery centre. It was really good

National Maritime Museum/Cutty Sark/Greenwich Park have lots to offer and can all be combined. NMM has a whole new-ish gallery for young kids, and they can run around freely on the Big World Map while parents get to have a break in the café. And you could walk through the tunnel under the Thames and then "drive" a DLR train?

fitterhappierhealthier · 15/07/2019 16:43

Ooh some fab suggestions here thank you!

Definitely the transport museum. DH loved it when he was little.

Duh DS not DH.

National history museum
Also second Greenwich - maritime museum, the observatory (short imax film or just wander with vantage views of canary wharf) town for food, cutty sark
by riverside. The park playground is also not bad

cestlavielife · 15/07/2019 16:53

Go on a boat to Greenwich and run around the park there
Also go on the cable car
Or wander along south bank loads going on festival hall beach etc
