Roses for dummies - deadheading?

We have inherited a number of rose bushes in the garden in our new house. When we moved in in January they had all been cut back. They have all bloomed beautifully and I'm now sort of half aware that I should have been deadheading as they died off. Have I left it too late? Is deadheading just snipping off the seed pod bits (?) that are left over when the petals have fallen off? Have they 'gone to seed' (??).

As you can see, I am clueless. Please help...

Just take the whole rose head off after it’s finished blooming.Dont trim all the branches down until it’s stopped blooming by end of August.
Roses are pretty resilient, I’ve got climbing rose bushes I inherited in my garden and one of them I do nothing with and it’s blooms the best !! I don’t even cut back or dead head !
