I requested PPI claim forms from Lloyds Bank last year after realising that I think I had taken out PPI on a £10k personal loan. I also have a CC with them. I received the forms and put them aside to complete when I had some spare time to dig out all my old banking paperwork, but didn't look at them properly for a couple of weeks. It was then that I noticed there was a note on it to return the forms within a week of the date I had received them but this time had now passed.
However, I started receiving 1-3 calls a day from a number I didn't recognise and after about a week I googled the number to discover it was the bank. After about a week after the deadline passed I sat down to fill in the forms and before I sent them I logged into Internet Banking to discover a payment of around £500 had been paid into my Current Account with 'PPI claim' or something similar as the reference. But I have never actually submitted a claim??
I was surprised and actually quite happy to receive a payment, however I have just realised that people seem to be receiving payment into the thousands and yet the bank has paid me without me even submitting claim paperwork. Is this a bit odd or have other people found that this bank has done this? I am now just wondering if this is shut-up money and they actually owe me more?
