Sofa shopping help

After several decades of not buying new I'm after two sofas for my lounge.

Real first world problem I know.

I'm a bit aprehensive about the investment in nice stuff and I don't know if thats whats holding me back from choosing something. So I thought I 'd turn to mumsnet for some ideas.

I'd like two each quite small 160cm ish but not love seat really small size either.

I like the Ikea Delaktig two seater but the arm cushions make the seating area that bit smaller, DH doesn't like the feet. We could not use the arm cushions and just have the frame but the back cushions don't go the full width of the sofa so it'd look a bit odd.

I'm not against going second hand and do like danish style very organic looking wooden slim arms so you gain sofa seating area without adding chunky length. We have a couple of painted ercol chairs in the lounge that are staying.

I quite like open space under the furniture - I've been given a slightly tempremental robot vacuum cleaner (Eufy) and it crashes around the house (sensors not all working hence being given it) but does quite a nice job of clearing up.

I'd like washable covers. Three DC and a dog in the house anything light and fixed will last a grand total of 5 seconds.

Am I too picky - anyone got any suggestions?

Loose covered sofas don't usually have open space underneath them, as the cover has a sort of valanced bottom that reaches to the floor iyswim.
I recently had the same problem. I was going to go for the Ikea Ektorp, which I know is comfy, and you can buy spare covers, but I didn't in the end (too boring to explain why). In the end I bought from SofaSofa (online), who have quite a range of loose covered stuff. My sil thought I was mad buying a sofa I'd never personally tried, but I am pleased with it, and it's comfortable, thank goodness. They are not top of the range sofas by any means, but I can get extra covers, and existing cover is machine washable.
I tried some lovely sofas with fixed upholstery, but I know, like you, that they will be grubby in no time.
