Can you use different formulas?

Hello all!

Very new to this (both parenting and forum!) and was hoping for a little bit of advice.

I probably kind of already know the answer to my question, but was thinking if you are allowed to use different types of formula at different times?
I have a 1 month old daughter (super cute! :)), I am currently breastfeeding and also using the SMA powder milk (also the ready made stuff from SMA in little cartons when going out), 50/50 breastfeeding/powder throughout the day/night.
I think she has a bit of reflux as every time she feeds she dribbles a little, or sometimes a lot of milk, no matter how long I keep her upwards or burp, it still comes out when she is laying down. Have also had a few episodes of vomiting, when it looked like as if the feed was shot out of a cannon, but nothing reoccurring or extreme, so I guess no need to worry about that too much... On top of the constant dribbles, it seems that for the past few days she is constipated and really struggling to push poop out.
I would like to get her on the SMA Anti-Reflux powder, but also continue using the SMA Comfort one (just got a new tub) to tackle both issues, but I am guessing you cannot offer two effectively different types of formula, i.e. Comfort at night feeds and Anti-Reflux throughout the day (oddly she does not spill food during night feeds)?

Is there anything I can do to have the two issues taken care of?
Is there a better formula to use than the SMA stuff or any other remedies?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Ilona and little Amber x

I'd speak to you HV about the stuff coming back so much or violently.

In terms of formula, you're not meant to mix them up but I did and DS was fine. When he was a few weeks old, he did go through a constipated phase (unrelated to formula used) but we found that a lot of massaging helped to get he poop out. He was ok a few weeks later.

So I don’t think the recommendation is to inter-change different types of formula due to the slight differences and you wouldn’t be able to identify which one upset baby. Or rule it out as the issue.

I found that baby needed held upright a lot longer than I expected to avoid spit up. But if you suspect reflux I’d be asking medical guidance rather than just changing formula. We used infacol before every single feed, for weeks, it took a few days to help resolve the wind issue causing spit up. I never changed type of formula. Baby massage also helped - I just watched a lot of YouTube but there are classes.

Congratulations on your new baby

Oh yes, how long do you hold DD up for? Some babies take 30-40 mins to burp.
