Lush conditioner bar

I bought a purple conditioner bar yesterday. I tried it out this morning but I wasn’t sure what to do with it. My hair feels dry and unconditioned so I obviously don’t have the right technique. Can anyone who uses these bars give me some pointers, please?

I have the same one you mention however they don't really cream or lather up like the liquid conditioner in a bottle. That said for this reason is why my hair loves the bars because i have short fine hair that gets very limp with traditional conditioners. I can see them being quite a disappointment if you have longer or medium to thick hair.

What do you do with the bar? Do you rub it on your hands first or do you rub it directly on your hair?

I have long thick curls, I bought that from Lush and they told me to cut off a small bit and lather it into foam in my hands before distributing through my hair. Certainly worked better than rubbing the bar directly on my hair but it does take some time to froth it all up!

I have that one. They suggested running it under the shower. It needs to be really wet to work.

I don't get on with their bar conditioners at all, because it's really hard to work them into your hair (even if you've got thin hair like me). I wish I could find one that worked, as I love the lack of plastic bottles when I use soap and shampoo bars.

PavlovaFaith · 13/07/2019 22:48

The white and green ones are a bit easier to use. The Sugar Daddio bar is the one you've bought. It's harder to work but a nice conditioner. I have long, thick hair and I take it to one side and twist it and rub the wet bar over the twisted hair. It takes some working in but I love it.

Magstermay · 13/07/2019 23:02

I wet the bar then rub it over wet hair but just the ends. Seems to work ok but there is no lather or creamy feeling at all.

Wet it with hot water, and then rub it over your hair. I have the blue one too. I run it under a hot shower and then turn the temperature down to rinse my hair.

I bought one and it's the crappest purchase ever!! I have long thick hair and it was just useless 😦

poptypingchef · 13/07/2019 23:24

I really didn’t get on with it first. Thought you had to rub it on like the shampoo bar but I’ve got it now!

I soak it until it starts getting really soft on the outside And then scoop some off, I mix it in my hand until it’s a paste (should look like normal bottle conditioner) and then apply as normal - works a treat!

SpaceCadet4000 · 14/07/2019 03:29

I use something similar to the praying hands method that curly girls use- so holding the bar in my flat palm, creating a sandwich with my hair and other hand and running down the length of the strand. I find I need to do the underside of my hair too.

My hair seems to like solid conditioners more than liquid. It's fine and straight but there's plenty of it, in case that's relevant.

sonjadog · 14/07/2019 07:49

This morning I took everyone’s advice and let it sit under the shower to get softened for a while first, which certainly seemed to help. I tried breaking a bit off, but I kept dropping it down the plughole. So in the end I went for rubbing it over the ends. No idea if that worked or not. I’ll report back later!

I have very thick, wavy hair so this might not work for me at all. But at the price of it, I am not giving up without a fight!

I found lush hair bars awful and made my hair straw like. I just follow the curly girl method which is much better for my hair and uses no SLS or drying ingredients.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/07/2019 08:18

I have the white bar and have tried everything including dissolving it in water first, it's useless. I have long, thick, curly hair.

LaLaLamp · 14/07/2019 08:22

What is the curly girl method?

sonjadog · 14/07/2019 13:10

Hair update now it has dried - better than yesterday but uneven in conditionness (it’s a word...). On the whole it feels a bit stiff and like the product isn’t properly washed out.

As an aside, I like the purple shampoo/conditioner effect on my hair. It os bringing out a nice colour.

I found that the purple conditioner bar really lost its scent quickly. I bought it to accompany the shampoo because I love it's scent and obviously great for blonde hair but the conditioner bar just smells musty now even though I let it dry out between uses. I'm really disappointed with it, it's not cheap either!!
