Kids party lunchboxes - advice please

I decided to order some of these cardboard lunchboxes from eBay for DD's 5th birthday party as I thought it would avoid the usual queue for food, trays laid out etc.

I was intending to do ham & cheese sandwiches and put a 1/4 ham & 1/4 cheese in each - so 1/2 a full sandwich per child iyswim.

But now it comes to wrapping of said sandwiches.... what would you do with them, clingfilm etc? I can imagine that being a total nightmare when making them but I can't think of anything else (other than tinfoil but that's 6 & two 3's)

I haven't actually been to a party where they've had them so just wondered if anyone else had & could tell me....

I always put the sandwiches on a platter and give them out quickly. I put the other bits and bobs in the bags/boxes then one adult can quickly give out ham or cheese so you don’t have the “I don’t like cheese” “I don’t like cheese”

Left over sandwiches can then be scoffed by the adults

70 RESEALABLE SNACK BAGS LUNCHBOX FOOD POUCH SEALAPACK VALUE PACK www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01B6FZAAM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CCJkDbB498FBE?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

These would hold a couple of sandwiches.

I'm doing these for a party tomorrow. I was going to use clingfilm as it couldn't think of a better way.

Is half a sandwich going to be enough for a 5yo? My 2yo would be ravenous if that’s all he got!

You could do baking paper fastened together with a sticker.

SavoyCabbage · 13/07/2019 21:02

Or paper bags. You can get them from amazon.

I thought about sandwich bags but thought they would all come loose.

Paper might be an idea savoy, thank you. Would look better than clingfilm I suppose.

No fenella if it was just a sandwich I'd give them it in their hand, just the only item in the boxes I wasn't sure how to wrap.

I’d do rolls and ask before hand which sandwiches the children would like - then lanel the boxes. That way you can cater for allergies too. I usually offer cheese, ham or jam.

underneaththeash · 13/07/2019 21:24

Oh and I usually use cling film to wrap.

Use a napkin or kitchen roll and then it's there as an extra for sticky fingers and easy to open
