Disney Paris hotel help!

Disney Paris whizzes, can anyone help?! I’m trying to book a Disneyland Paris break this summer for dd(5)who has never been and we want to stay onsite. I’m not sure whether to shell out (a lot) more for Disneyland hotel, the pink one right by the park entrance, or go for the Newport bay club which is apparently a bit fresher and nicer inside, and a little cheaper/better value - but is a bit of a walk from the park entrance. We are going for 2.5 days only so convenience is key. I thought Disneyland hotel looked perfect for popping back to room/getting home easily at the end of a log day, but it’s sooo much more expensive (I’m getting £1k for 2 nights, without breakfast or tickets.) we would save about £200-£250 if we went to Newport bay club. That said I do want it to be realigned special for her so wanted to canvass some opinions on whether DLH is worth it for the convenience. Tripadvisor rates it as a bit dated and not great value except for location.
Thanks Smile

I took my kids in December and we stayed at Newport Bay. Only a ten minute walk and it was great. I liked that it wasn’t OTT Disney and we still went to look around/have drinks in the Disneyland hotel. I thought that it was a good distance, rooms were good and it was close enough that we could scoot back for little breaks.

Newport bay is nice but I found it a bit busy and impersonal. Dlh is great, that bit special and location is great but not worth the extra. Imo sequoia hotel is the best, closer to the park than newport due to a temporary path closure, cheaper than newport and quieter and friendlier.

I found Sequoia hotel dark whereas I really liked the Newport Bay. My kids were 8 and 4 and it was perfect for us. The characters came to the hotel in the evening for photos and autographs.

We just stayed in one of the cheaper ones last year - Santa fe I think it was. It was perfectly fine, a fairly short walk to the parks, comfortable beds. Its all we needed - we spent very little time at the hotel - it was just somewhere to sleep. We went for the parks, not the accommodation.

A few years back now we've stayed in Davy Crockets which is a 10 min drive away - you get more space and there is a pool. Characters used to come too. But again, we spent no time in the pool, we didn't really use the hotel facilities at all.

I do know 3 or 4 people who have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. None have said it was worth the cost, infant 3 of the 4 said they wouldn't pay it out again, just wasn't worth it.

I guess it depends on your plans. We are full day in the park people, none of this coming back to rest. Even when dd was smaller we never did at any of the Disney parks.

None of the onsite hotels are that far away. Think the furthest ones are about 15 minutes, maybe 20 with a small child.

Bellsandholly · 13/07/2019 18:16

I really liked Sequoia when I went for Christmas because it had a cosy log cabin feel to it and it looked fab all decorated. Not sure it would look so nice in the summer though but that’s pretty irrelevant I suppose.
Good food served there for breakfast, got a pool too.
Every day I looked forward to walking down to the park entrance round the big lake.
Good value IMO

If you are going club level then Newport Bay Compass Club is lovely.

Floralnomad · 13/07/2019 18:24

The pink palace ( Disneyland hotel) is lovely and my preferred choice . I’m not keen on NPB as it’s too large .

Borntobeamum · 13/07/2019 19:06

New York hotel is my favorite x

SolitudeSometimesIs · 13/07/2019 19:07

We stayed in a Compass Club room in the Newport only because the pool in the Sequoia was closed at the time and we wanted a pool. The staff were lovely with DS2 who is autistic and it was great being able to walk back to the room when he felt overwhelmed.
If you can stay onsite it’s well worth it for the extra hours and not having to rely on transport.

We stayed in Sequoia lodge and had a look around Newport Bay too. The hotel was fine (a bit dated) but had a nice swimming pool. The other hotels are about a 10 to 15 minute walk away around a lake, it is a nice walk.

CasparBloomberg · 13/07/2019 19:12

When we went with young children we thought the DL hotel well worth the extra, being very close to come back for breaks from the busyness of the parks. Also couldn’t move for all the character meet and greet opportunities there and the kids loved it.

AlwaysCheddar · 13/07/2019 19:15

Stay in Disney, New York, sequoia or Newport - nothing g else as they are a long walk.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 13/07/2019 19:19

They have free shuttles into the park every 15 minutes if I remember correctly Smile

I'm going in August with my 2 year old niece, SIL, DB, DP,DM,DSD and bump.

Were staying at the Davy Crockett ranch like we did when we were children. I'm so excited! You go to a little hut each morning and pick up fresh croissants, rolls and condiments for breakfast.

Ballyally · 13/07/2019 19:20

Pink Disney hotel is not worth the additional cost in my opinion, new York is our favourite but think its currently closed for refurbishment. A family member stayed in the new port with 4 & 6 year old and loved it!

CharlieandLolaCat · 13/07/2019 19:23

Facebook group, Disneyland Paris Advice and Disneyland Paris Tips for Brits and you will get lots of people with immense expertise. We are there in August and have used these group extensively.

Blastandtroph · 13/07/2019 19:27

We've stayed in Sequoia and Newport Bay (few weeks ago). Preferred Sequoia. New Yorker is currently closed.

DLH is very convenient. Sequoia now next closest due to lakeside pathway from Newport being closed.

I'd opt for either DLH or Sequoia. Newport Bay is very large, service not particularly welcoming and our room (not compass) was quite worn.

Daisypod · 13/07/2019 19:45

We have stayed in NPB, Sequoia lodge and Davy Crocketts. All are lovely in their own way and it is supposed to be a 10 - 15 min walk from Sequoia and NPB but you have to go through the security from the village every time and if it is busy this can add time and be rather annoying. Our dream is to one day stay in DLH as being on the doorstep of the park must be great, plus you can see the night time light show from inside.

Floralnomad · 13/07/2019 20:56

We’ve stayed at them all except Santa Fe and Cheyenne . New York is being turned into Marvel themed which will IMO spoil it because it was lovely , especially at Christmas . We always stay in the Pink palace now because dd has CFS / ME and it’s so convenient for popping in and out .

Jokie · 13/07/2019 21:00

Everything @CharlieandLolaCat recommended. The FB groups are a real wealth of knowledge.

We're staying at Newport on recommendation from the group when we go.

Singleandproud · 13/07/2019 21:10

We stayed in Santa Fe, its cheap, free shuttle bus in and had breakfast in the park. Save your money by choosing cheap accommodation, you’ll only be sleeping there and the theming is good. The holiday will be special for her because its Disney and its amazing.

Then spend the extra on character meals so you don’t have to que for ages. You can go in the big hotel for dinner at illuminations which has lots of characters, you can also book a Princess pamper package, you book it in the big hotels Disney shop. Then on the day you go and have their hair and face paint done and a mini photo shoot, they can wear there own princess dresses from home, we did this before having dinner with the Princesses.

Regardless of her age and whether she uses one at home I would rent one of the Hertz pushchairs, they are huge ( i could fit in size 14, 5ft6) there is so much walking involved and the days are very long the pushchair was a lifesaver particularly as DD developed a virus whilst we were there so she could sleep in it.
