Awful road accident near where I work yesterday [possible trigger warning]

I work in South West London and have to cross a very busy road on my way there. Yesterday morning it was being cordoned off and there was a policeman saying there had been a serious accident.

I found out later that a 30 year old woman on a scooter had been hit by a lorry and died at the scene Sad. They are looking for witnesses.

Poor woman I feel so sorry for her Sad.

I tried to tell my lodger about it last night, but they weren’t in the least bit interested. I crossed the same road to go home yesterday evening, and it was back to normal with drivers and cyclists on it. As if nothing had happened Sad.

I do think being in/on a vehicle smaller than a car is so dangerous Sad.

It must have been very shocking for you. I'm sorry you had no one to talk to about it. Proximity to fatal accident is unnerving.
That poor woman's family. And the poor driver of the other vehicle.
I was snarled up in traffic yesterday because of a serious road accident. I'm a bit older and so tell myself that, however annoying traffic is, at least I'm not in the incident that led to it.

I'm like you whereby things like that play on my mind. Some people though if it doesn't directly affect them, it just goes over their head
I know its a cliché to say it, but.
I take my hat off to those who work for the Emergency services, some of the things they must seen.

I saw the news about that yesterday, it’s awful. Poor lady and her family. Of course while it doesn’t compare, proximity to an accident is horrible - I used to work near Ludgate Circus and while there were lots of cyclist/lorry collisions one fatal one stayed with me for days.

How awful for everyone concerned.
I agree that these electric scooters are dangerous (which is probably why they are illegal on a public road).

Yes, I don’t know how they do it.

Roundabouts, lorries and cyclists are such a dangerous mix. I hope my dc never decide they want to cycle on the roads.

I heard about that accident too and it’s so sad. Things really play on my mind and I get very upset. I know what you mean about things going back to normal. I’m sensitive I suppose. I’m sorry that this happened near you and that you are upset.

And absolutely agree, the roads are so dangerous for anyone except motorists.

My sister and a few other local people in our village witnessed a terrible fatal accident with an elderly lady going under a lorry at a cross roads.
And a similar accident a couple of years later with a young lady at the other side of the junction.
We live near a motorway junction but the lorries coming off are too big for our village roads. Terrible accidents that could have been avoided.

Yes, I am devastated by this too. I felt like I knew her because I have been following her weekly vlogs on YouTube for years and she has been such an inspiration to me to keep fit and healthy.
I almost felt like I knew her and would always get replies when I dm her on Instagram.
I just can’t believe it.
Her poor sisters and boyfriend. Devastating. :(

OP I think this is the incident you are referring to, very sad.
