Nintendo switch - is it good?

My DS is about to turn 6 and always gets a bit of money accumulated from family. We want to buy him something decent with it. He's got a bike, doesn't need any more toys and we are thinking of getting him a Nintendo switch. Hes getting to an age where I guess he would enjoy it and be able to play a lot of the (age appropriate) games. But they are pricey. Those who have one, would you recommend it? Anything to look out for when buying one? Thanks.

@Housewife2010 why?

TokyoSushi · 15/07/2019 12:32

Yes!

DS (8) absolutely loves his and I have to admit it is pretty good. They are on offer on Amazon Prime Day today but it doesn't seem to be a massive discount so still worth shopping around to see if you can find a better price.

I don't think a six year old needs devices. My older children have a Switch and they love it but they are very addictive. They begged us for one for Christmas and were very aware that there would be strict limits on it. I would rather encourage a younger child to have imaginative play. There is plenty of time for devices later.

@Housewife2010

Not really what OP was asking.

Actually the OP was asking if people would recommend one. I said I wouldn't. When asked further up this post by another reader why, I explained my reasons. Therefore I have answered both the OP and the other poster's questions.

chzarind · 15/07/2019 14:56

OP asked if people would recommend based on whether it's a good product or not.

Housewife2010 · 15/07/2019 16:13

Do you need me to quote her post? She said she had a six year old and asked if people would recommend one. I said I wouldn't. The OP doesn't seem to have had a problem with my reply.

chzarind · 15/07/2019 16:33

The OP asked if anyone had one and if they would recommend it. If you took that to mean the OP was asking your personal feelings on device use in children I think it's you that needs to post quoted. OP asked for opinions on the switch; not the child having a switch. There is always one.

Yes, you. 😆
