I'd like to restore an old pocket watch

It doesn't work and it hasn't got a chain thingy.

I've googled but still confused.

How much would it set me back to get it looking good and in working order? And how long? Would need it for November.

Any advice / recommendations are welcome!

I think you need to give more information, its a little like saying my car doesn't work, how much to fix it.

Although anything can be fixed, at a cost, it very much depends on the make and quality of the watch, in order to decide if its worth it, could I ask some quick questions, What make is it, can you provide a picture, is it battery or mechanical, does it wind up & do the hands move freely.

The chain is simple, any decent Jeweller/watch repairer could provide a suitable one.

Once you have decided if your going to get it fixed either seek out a recommended local repairer, or search for one in on-line reviews, I would always use an independent one if possible.

Thanks both!

I'm at work now but will take a closer look at it when i get home.

it was recently left to my dp by his grandfather.

trhought it'd be a nice gift to get it restored to its former glory. I appreciate how vague I've been

Will check out the links

Thanks

As it was given by the Grandfather it may be of some age and possibly well worth repairing, as there may be a sentimental value the question of financial viability of the repair may not be so important, in which case its worth noting most decent watch repairs will give a free estimate.
