What are your kid’s experiences of primary school?

My ds is 8 and is struggling with it. His group of ‘friends’ seem to be a bunch of idiots (bar one or two who are sweet and kind). Today he spent half an hour in tears at bedtime because one of them smeared his banana all over ds’ uniform and hat, and another one was giving him the finger repeatedly for not choosing him as his partner for an activity. This is a typical day. It’s always this boy tripped him over on purpose, this boy hid his hat, every day he’s upset about something. He has a stammer which, during term time, gets extremely bad. He’s just always so stressed and upset.

Have you met with the school? Spoken to other parents there? My children’s experience is irrelevant.

Op this is horrendous

This will ruin his confidence.

What is school doing?
One day of this and I'd be in, not good and not acceptable at all.

That's not usual and not acceptable. You need to go in and explain and hopefully get some support for him. It's verging on bullying.

Several of the children are- and I know I risk the wrath of mumsnet but it’s true- rough. And likely not looked after properly. I raised welfare concerns about one of them and I’m pretty sure another one of them has a drug dealer for a dad. One of them told ds to look up sex videos on YouTube. These kids are 8!!!

He’s such a soft little thing and this is just no good at all.

The school are bloody useless, I’ve complained to them many times about all manner of things.

Sounds like my 8yo boy's experience too.
