Work hasn't done an accident form/put it in the accident book

Hi, the other week I had an accident at work. I was grabbing a cappucino for a customer and turned around, my ankle turned out and I fell on my back. Some drink spilt on my hand but didn't burn me. I wasn't injured if anything a bit sore. Work phoned me later on asking if I was ok and to do an accident form. They also emailed me. I responded saying I was fine and could we talk in person and do it then. I didn't receive a response so asked two days later when I was working again. The manager said she would before me shift ended. She ended up going home. Do I keep chasing this or report?

@flouncyfanny It's a huge pain, it really should not be my responsibility to chase it up, my workplace is so effing lazy. I'm sorry you didn't get anywhere, that's absolute cr%p.

Yes, you absolutely must keep chasing to fill in the form. 'If it's not written down it didn't happen' was always what I had drummed into me.
Also if you leave it too long you might forget day/time etc. The report is there to cover you and them.

Say their insurers asked you too. Might focus their minds.

You really should have filled it in soon after the incident.
And based on what you're saying, it sounds like they contacted you, checked you were okay and asked for it to be filled in.
Did they attach it on the email?

It does seem you asked for the delay in filling it in, and now understandably chasing you for filling it in isn't the forefront of their mind.

Was the manager you asked the same one that was on shift at the time of the incident. I can't expect that dealing with paperwork from an incident 2-3 days ago - or longer is her top priority.

I agree it's important. Next time you go in, ask to do it then and there,.

Sorry but I do see it as being your responsibility to ensure that all of the details are recorded in the accident book. You are the one who had the accident nobody else and if the details are wrongly recorded or incomplete then this may affect any subsequent claim or investigation into safe working practices.
