Anyone know anything about moths?

I have a pretty bad moth infestation in my flat. They have eaten a lot of my bedroom carpet and some of my hallway carpet. I have done all the DIY treatments and can't get rid of the buggers. They haven't touched any of the rooms with man-made carpet or laminate - only the bedroom and hall carpets are wool, laid by the previous owners

I was always going to replace the wool carpets anyway because they are old and dirty. My question is if they are going to be replaced (and replaced with either synthetic carpets or laminate, not wool), do I also need to bring in professional pest control or will replacing the flooring get rid of them? If it won't get rid of them, do I bring in pest control before I rip up the old carpets?! I would need them removed and new ones fitted on the same day so I can't remove, spray and then have new ones fitted unfortunately.

Advice welcome. No need to tell me about clothes washing etc, I know all that. They have never been in my wardrobes, they are only in my wool carpets.

I had carpet moths for the first time in my life, last year.
Oddly, so did my db and dsil, in a completely different part of the country. Never come across it before, nor heard of anyone, so am wondering if this is a newer thing ?
Anyway, all advice on here was that they are a bugger to get rid of.
We bought some poison and patted ourselves on the back how well we'd done in getting rid.
Then followed some other advice about them hating lavendar, so put some of that down for a few weeks (and left bits under the sette for ages.

This year, they seem to be back...... maybe the advice was right ?
So, I don't know the answer, but would be interested to find someone who does.

I don't think home treatments will really do much, you have to either get professionals in and/or replace the carpets. I'd rather not bug bomb my home so if I can get away with just replacing the carpets I will!!!

I think you would be wise to get in a professional. Ripping up the carpet is a good start, but the eggs will be everywhere, so the cycle will repeat endlessly unless you kill the eggs at source. That might need fumigation.

I'm just assuming if we have no wool carpets they won't have anything to eat. I don't have any wool or silk clothing.
