Mine is chosen, and more or less installed I am very happy with it, but I am wondering am I a voice in the wilderness or (very unusually) either on or ahead of trend... Grin

We might be in the market for a new kitchen so just hangin' out here, hoping for tips and hints.

Nb if you're going for grey then I'll get my coat.

ilovesooty · 10/07/2019 00:22

What colour is it?

NaomiFromMilkShake · 10/07/2019 00:27

Sooty

I will PM you, not that it is a huge secret, but would like this thread ( if it happens to unfold, to unfold, without input) Grin

Are you selling soon? If not, do what makes you happy.

AriadneesWeb · 10/07/2019 00:28

Grey because Scandi Noir is a huge trend. But navy blue is also massively popular.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 10/07/2019 00:30

Flibberty

Not grey...

Navy. I put one in a property three years ago it looks fab.

ohfourfoxache · 10/07/2019 00:32

Alabaster units and tiles with deep red/burgundy walls (2 very small areas, most of it is going to be very, very pale). Beech worktop.

It’s not very modern but I give not a fuck - it’s an old house! Grin

Fantababy · 10/07/2019 00:54

At a very early stage of planning but I like navy, or maybe a dusky teal shade, but feel that these are maybe quite 'trendy' so will date quickly.

SD1978 · 10/07/2019 01:07

Standard white cabinets, with wood bench top because as much as I like all the coloured and styled ones, they will be very dated within a much shorter time. Sticking with 'boring' but adding accents/ styling means I'm not going to regret it have to redo within the next 5-10 years.

Bluesheep8 · 10/07/2019 05:38

Didn't have one installed but had existing one painted with new worktops. Cupboards are painted in f and b skimming stone, worktops are oak laminate and walls are a very pale blue. Old house and I like the country look.

rosedream · 10/07/2019 05:44

Cream gloss with mat black stone worktop.

VenusClapTrap · 10/07/2019 06:41

Planning one here. Trying to decide between black, or natural oak.

Neptunesgiraffe · 10/07/2019 06:45

I'm planning on having white cabinets with a marble top and tiles. I've seen a few about at the moment, but I think it's quite classic, too.

Most recently fitted kitchens I have seen at friends’ houses have been some sort of dark shade - dark blue, greenish/ teal. Seems to be trendy now, I have to admit they do look good!

WisestIsShe · 10/07/2019 06:53

I want a navy one but not wood grain. Can't find one at a reasonable cheap price. Any suggestions please?

buttertoasty · 10/07/2019 06:58

I went black with a wooden worktop. I love dark interiors.

Kind of regretting the wood though as I'm so paranoid about damaging it.

Fairylea · 10/07/2019 07:00

We will be going for country style white and oak coloured worktops. Sure it’s not ultra fashionable navy Instagram style (every other kitchen I ever see on Instagram is navy!) but it won’t date and fits with our country ish house.

Alwayssaythewrongthing · 10/07/2019 07:07

Matt white cabinets with grey oak worktop

Chasingsquirrels · 10/07/2019 07:16

My plan is sage green shaker door & drawer fronts (not replacing the units) with a wood effect worktop, oak wood LVT flooring (following through from the hall). Not sure about tiles - currently have a mix of various pale terracotta, blue, green & grey colours and wondering about just keeping them.
Also wondering whether the sage will date quickly, or I'll go off it and whether to go with cream.
I've painted one of my existing doors to try and get a feel for it.

But also doing the utility and as that will have open boiler, washing machine, tumble drier and fridge freezer I think the same units will look odd and will probably go with a white - will only have 1 double base and 1 double wall unit, but then also fitted carpentery with end pieces etc to create spaces to fit the white goods, shelves above etc.

I'm just not sure about using 2 types of unit and whether I should have the same in both rooms (even though they aren't the same atm - although only 1 base unit in the utility atm).

notso · 10/07/2019 07:22

I went for ubiquity. I'll let you guess the rest as your not revealing yours.
We'll be moving or renovating in the next 5 years so longevity wasn't my focus.

Coniferhedge · 10/07/2019 07:29

I’m having a moss green cabinet door and granite work top in a grey green colour. Public lavatory tiles (the white rectangular ones, this is what DH calls them as they remind him of municipal bogs) and a grey Amtico floor (already down, not changing it). I reckon it will have ‘army mess tent chic’. I did want dark grey, but there’s not enough light in the kitchen so it would look too gloomy.

origamiunicorn · 10/07/2019 07:41

Considering petrol blue cabinets 🥰

Navy and it looks fab, sparky in today so will look even better this evening I hope.

I didn't post the colour because I just wanted to check I wasn't a million miles off the mark.

Thanks everyone for your input. Flowers
