Tweenage armpit hair - best ladyshavers?

changeitis · 09/07/2019 23:23

Practical help needed

Tween DD is a little short sighted (a lot) so wet shave and razors aren't really possible as she can't see in the shower without her glasses.

I think a lady shaver is safer as she can use with her glasses on.

So recommend me some armpit shavers? Small? Non cutting? Close shave? Ones to avoid?

I’d go for a Wilkinson sword intuition (the one with built in shaving balm.) I’ve never had a nick from one, and it’s so quick to do in the shower, no need for any products. They do a sensitive skin one too.

What about cream hair remover ?

WindowsSmindows · 09/07/2019 23:36

What about leaving the hair where it is?

Veet Sensitive Precision! This has changed my life. My sensitive skin can't deal with razors and shaving foam so this is a godsend.

WindowsSmindows

Maybe the dd has said she wants to remove it and the OP is just looking for ways to make that possible?

AlunWynsKnee · 10/07/2019 00:10

I'm a hairy feminist* who has an anxious, autistic dd with very dark hair. I got her a wet and dry Ladyshave after advice here and it seems to work for her.

avamiah · 10/07/2019 00:10

WindowsSmindows,
Yes she could leave the hair and let it grow longer and thicker but for what reason?
To get bullied at school as that is what would happen .

Notcontent · 10/07/2019 00:13

I am not really sure you need to see much when shaving - it’s more of a feel thing...

avamiah · 10/07/2019 00:13

AlunWynsKnee,
I bet she is not hairy anymore and loves being hair free .😊

changeitis · 10/07/2019 07:14

Thanks all
I forgot about cream! Might try that as I expect it's better than it was in my day.

The veet looks really good - smaller head.

What about leaving the hair where it is?

Why does some smart arse always feel the need to post this type of thing on these threads?

If you use cream, OP, make sure you patch test. I've not got sensitive skin but I can't use them at all.

Would she let you shave them?

Thank you for helping her; my mum didn't and I was relentlessly bullied at school.

Ivegotthree · 10/07/2019 07:25

Agree with you fluffy. The comment from @WindowsSmindows was completely pointless other than to show how woke she is.

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/07/2019 07:30

I sympathise with the eyesight, I have to wear my glasses in the shower if I need to shave my legs.

I epilate my armpits now so not going to suggest that but a word of warning about the Veet battery shaver, it left my armpits red and sore, never again.

I would suggest hair remover cream, it is really no fun trying to wet shave when you can't see what you are doing.

stucknoue · 10/07/2019 07:33

I bought basic battery operated ladyshave brand ones from the supermarket when they were about 12, were about £15 each, for my 2. Dd2 now wet shaves out of choice and dd1 partly waxes if I will pay(?!)

StarlightLady · 10/07/2019 07:43

I wear glasses (‘can’t see a lot without them these days!), I wet shave all my body hair and agree it is more about feel than a visual thing, although that is with years of experience. But as she is starting out, can she not stand in front of the bathroom mirror?

Finally, with regard to other comments, you do not have to be hairy to be a feminist and neither do your daughters.

Spam88 · 10/07/2019 07:49

Also very short sighted! I shave fine in the shower now (although I have slices my fingers a few times 🙈) but for years I just did all my shaving out of the shower. Splash of water and bit of soap rubbed in and she can just use a normal razor.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 10/07/2019 08:07

Would Shen have them waxed. ? Big advantage being needs doing a lot less frequently?
