Holiday abroad or in UK with Toddler

We have just over two weeks off in Summer with our 18 month old. Husband is a teacher and I've taken 18 days out of my 3 weeks of the year off.

We are planning to go away for around a week somewhere. I really want to make the most of this time as I work evenings and husband works days (to avoid childcare costs), so we don't get much family time as a 3.

We are saving for a house so the most I will spend is £600 (so we can still save for the house that month, could technically leave a month and spend £1000 if you guys have an amazing idea that costs that much!)

Through alot of googling this can get us a all inclusive holiday in Spain for 5/6 days depending on what star rating we got OR 7/10 days in a caravan in the UK.

Abroad- meals would be in the cost which is great but the heat might be too much and I feel like Spain is so much like the UK it isn't worth the plane with the baby.

Caravan- would have to limit ourselves to our usual £50 a week food shop so wouldn't be special food, BUT it would mean we would have holiday park entertainment and could use our Merlin passes and national trust passes.

Sorry I was so in depth but wanted to give a full picture! Anyone with children older what do you think? Is an abroad holiday worth it or should we stick to the UK?

We took our DD1 short haul and it was ok, bit of the PITA at the airport and plane.

Then we took a DD1 and DD2 as toddlers honestly I wouldn't say it was awful but just too much hassle, wasn't really worth it. Nightmare keeping both kids occupied on the plane. Kids didn't cope that well in the sun so we spent a lot of time on our deck,, DD1 still could not walk that far it so we were pretty much stuck near the hotel and they were too young to partake in any activities. Plus the time zone messed with their sleep patterns.

We did a UK holiday few months later, much easier and more enjoyable.
