Mince it and make cottage pie

I was just looking for inspiration on the BBC good food website. I'm going to have beef salad with chips. They have lots of ideas of different types of salads

SilverySurfer · 08/07/2019 15:48

Slice into portions, place in gravy and freeze, sliced beef, salad and jacket potato or chips, beef and dripping sandwiches, cottage pie,

SeraphinaDombegh · 08/07/2019 15:49

Chop it into strips and have fajitas. That's what I'd do, anyway!

I've made this and it's lovely.

It's now my "go to" recipe for leftover beef (apart from in the winter when I use it to make Cottage pie).

Other option is actually to make beef spread for sandwiches. I know it sounds odd and reminiscent of 1970's food, but made yourself it's lovely - it ends up like a very rich beef pate recipe that's lovely in summer with some crusty bread.

You can follow this recipe but given your beef is already cooked you can half the cooking time.

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/07/2019 15:51

Seraphina I might do that tomorrow

Knitclubchatter · 08/07/2019 15:51

Slice thinly and either beef and broccoli or Chinese stir fry.

I'm planning to make individual beef and onion pies with my left over beef. Really looking forward to them :)

Redwinestillfine · 08/07/2019 16:13

Definitely curry! Jamie does a leftover curry recipe

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/07/2019 16:20

@weebarra Can you tell me your stovies recipe please?

lpchill · 08/07/2019 16:24

Sweet and sour beef. It's a dead easy recipe to make from scratch. Ketchup, brown sugar and malt vinegar. Add peppers and pineapple chunks and meat. Add rice and it's a really big hit in my house!! www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3227674/easy-sweet-and-sour-sauce

Imicola · 08/07/2019 16:28

I second stovies, especially if you have leftover gravy and roasties to go in it. Yum!

DeRigueurMortis · 08/07/2019 16:39

Bore I know I'm not who you asked but, hope this helps.

I don't use a recipe for Stovies - just learned from my DM but I've done a quick google and this is the one I found that seems to match the method I was taught the best.

https://www.donaldrussell.com/traditional-scottish-stovies.html

Same really with Yorkshire puddings Grin- I can't give anyone a recipe. I just "know" how to make them and when the batter is "right".

Drives my friends mad who ask why my Yorkshire's are so big and fluffy. I can give them general "tips" (like the fat you use, how hot it needs to be, oven temperature and don't open the door) but can't really explain how I do it! I think it's all in the consistency of the batter and obviously different flour/egg/milk combinations are never exact so you just have to "feel" when it's right.

Apologies for the Yorkshire pudding diversion Blush

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/07/2019 16:49

Thanks DeRigueurMortis That looks delicious!

I've never encountered stovies and googling produced a plethora of recipes but all using mince or corned beef.

I know what you mean about when something "feels right" - that's my style of cooking too Grin

Beef Udon soup

DeRigueurMortis · 08/07/2019 16:56

Bore I think it's a cooking "tribe" Grin
