Anyone else's kids being grumpy little buggers?

Aaah I'm literally at the end of my tether.
My kids have turned into grumpy, argumentative and generally horrible little creatures.
It's only ten past eight and I've already had to split up a fight, console two crying children and shout at the teen.
I know it's pretty normal end of term tiredness but god it's hard workSad
Anyone else's little darlings the same?
Or can anyone who's already on holiday tell me they transform into angels once school finishes?!

I've only got one and have resorted to TV already this morning!! Bloomin sick of it all!

MinnieMountain · 08/07/2019 08:19

Yup.
5 yo DS has spent the last week remembering things he's been denied and getting grumpy about them all over again.
This morning he decided he dislikes school lunches and wants a packed lunch.
At least he's an only child so he can only argue with us.

troppibambini · 08/07/2019 08:19

@toomuchfaster I don't blame you it's bloomin hard work.

One of mine is five and I think the first year of school as just utterly finished him, he's usually a pretty chilled out child as well so it's completely throwing me.

My dd (7) has a severe case of end of term-itis. Stroppy, unreasonable, argumentative etc etc. She's normal fine and does have her good points!

Alwaysgrey · 08/07/2019 08:29

Very stroppy 9 year old here. 10 year old is up and down only the 6 year old is alright.

Yaflamingalah · 08/07/2019 08:31

My 5 year old has been particularly horrrible for the last couple of weeks. Her temper is ridiculous. I’m putting down to end of year tiredness. Roll on the summer holidays.

SparklyMagpie · 08/07/2019 08:33

Oooh yes!

I only have DS who turns 4 in a few weeks and he has been an absolute nightmare the last couple of weeks. A right little grump, sleeping all over the place and waking me up at 5am every morning and just constantly moaning or whining at ANYTHING, and the not listening, oh lord.

He's usually a happy little bundle of energy lol but he is ruining me lately.

I feel for you all but I am glad I'm not alone Grin

troppibambini · 08/07/2019 09:13

Well that was a nice calm school drop off. Not.
Youngest suddenly through a huge strop just as we were going into the gates because he wanted to take a show and tell but didn't have one. Quite what he wanted me to do I don't know.
Do you think it's too early for gin?!

Yeps! ridiculously grumpy x 2

The fighting and bickering in the car this morning nearly destroyed me...

Only 2 weeks left of term and maybe just maybe they might start getting along

Eastie77 · 08/07/2019 09:38

@troppibambini the 11th commandment is it's never too early for GinGrin

DD(6) melted down this morning in spectacular style as she wanted a specific type of cereal we didn't have.

Shrieked at me because I poured milk on the cereal she eventually deigned to eat (I poured it 'wrong').

Ranted and raved on the way to school as she wanted to ride her bike rather than her scooter.

Refused to say good morning to her much loved teacher at the classroom door and ran in without a backward glance at me.

Ran back out wailing at me because I didn't give her a kiss goodbyeSmile

SudowoodoVoodoo · 08/07/2019 09:58

Mine spent his first weekend at camp so was an exhausted bundle of gumpiness and meaness this morning.

My older one has had plenty of vile moments through July in recent years with some pretty major melt downs. We have a termly cycle where it takes a week or two to warm up into the term, then there's the sweet spot about 3-4/5 weeks in where he's settled into the routine then it deteriorates with the penultumate week being like miles 11-12.5 of a half marathon! The last week is normally slightly better like a finishing sprint. The holidays can have their moments too as he adjusts to the loss of routine, and he can stew about the new term by the late stages of the summer holidays.

troppibambini · 08/07/2019 10:26

Gah sounds like everyone's at it!!

@Eastie77 breakfast was the cause of major tantrums for us as well ,anyone would have thought I had served up gruel instead of the pancakes and fruit they actually gotHmm
And I shall remember the 11th commandmentGrin

Is it completely ridiculous that I'm now thinking which meal is likely to cause the least amount of fuss for dinner?
Maybe a picnic in the garden? Although I'm sure the grass will be too scratchy, or the ants will be too loud.....

Mine are both being horrors. I could swing for them just now. I’m hoping it’s just because they’re excited for going on holiday on Wednesday, but dd had both me and dh in tears last night with her bullshit.
