My in-laws are very generously taking the whole family to Lapland for 3 nights in December. They said that outer clothing is provided, which is great for kids and my husband, but I am 5’9 and a size 18 and I’m seriously worried about getting there and nothing fitting me.

Has anyone done one of these experiences before and can advise me if they cater for all shapes and sizes, or if I should fork out and buy my own for this one trip?

And before the fat bashing crew jump on, as I’ve seen on other threads, I am trying to lose weight, but want to be prepared regardless.

They cater for all sizes - my husband is 6ft 3 and a very large build and they were fine for him. They do seem like they have loads of sizes! We went with Canterbury Travel.

It's the best holiday ever, completely amazing - you'll have a ball.

Thank you, brienne !

They will cater for you without a murmur. Their kit will be better than you'd likely be willing to shell out for too Grin Enjoy it, it's an amazing place. When I last went I was a generous size 18 and I'm 5'9" The guy I went with was 6'7" and lean. Neither of our sizes made the outdoor equipment folk even blink.

Get some good thermals and layers to wear underneath as they just provide the outerwear!

Agree with @FlatheadScrewdriver that their stuff is good but it's definitely worth spending on good thermal underwear, socks, gloves and hats as it can be very very cold!

My advice it to buy the layers you will need to wear under the snowsuits and the accessories as they are not provided:

thermal layers
thermal leggings (not jeans)
thermal socks
waterproof gloves (must be waterproof)
scarf/snood
thermal hat

You will have a wonderful time. We went in the February half term, and I can honestly say that it was the trip of a lifetime.

We bought all our thermal stuff from Decathlon BTW - just look in the ski section

My husband is huge..6’6” and not skinny. They ask your size before you go, so that will be fine. I’d take some of those hand warmer things too.

You’re all superstars - thank you so much. It was really starting to worry me and spoil the anticipation! Will be looking at Aldi closer to the time for their merino wool under layers! Have some waterproof gloves for the kids ordered and will get some for me and dh as well 😊

You will be fine - I am massive and they found a suit to fit me.

You’ll definitely be fine, and they also let you try it on and swap things for different sizes as much as you like. They are like big warehouses with loads of very helpful staff and the snowsuits and boots are top quality and new.

Thank you both - so helpful to hear all these positive experiences!
