I've just downloaded Audible 30 day free trial ready for my holidays. Can anyone recommend their favourite audiobook? There's SO many to choose from!

If you a good old fashioned detective type series then I really recommend Paul Temple mysteries by Francis Durbridge - they're great on audiobooks.

Thank you, a good few to have a look at.

I'm open to any genre, just wanted something easy listening for by the pool.

I really like the Tony McLean detective series by James Oswald. I just think theres something so entrancing about having crime stories narrated to you. I also have the Harry Potters narrated by Stephen Fry which are fab.

The Martian

Haven't enjoyed something so much for ages - really had me on the edge of my seat! Just the right person narrating it too.

Anything by Harlan Coben is good.
I also love a Shepherd’s Life, and The Complete Barchester Chronicles.

Also, always listen to the mini extract before you buy. Some readers voices are just wrong and spoil a book.

I agree with listen before you buy and also go for a good long book. My favourite was recommended by my DD. It was Count of Monte Christo, a book I never thought I would enjoy. However, the way he meticulously plots revenge on all who have wronged him, is a joy to listen to.

I often find good books by searching narrators I have enjoyed. This opens me up to books I never would have heard of. Samuel West is my favourite male narrator and Juliet Stevenson the best female.
