Which coffee machine?

I'm leaving my job in the next couple of weeks and am thinking of buying a coffee machine for my colleagues as a leaving gift. At the moment we have a really scuzzy kettle and I know they'd like a coffee machine but haven't got round to it.

I haven't got a huge budget, so you'll you go for a Dolce Gusto or a Tassimo? I don't drink coffee so have no idea if one is 'better' than the other? Would prefer a compact model as space is tight, we also have very hard water so something that comes with limescale reasonably well. An automatic cut off for the drink pouring is also essential as they have a tendency to wander off mid pour and it could be disastrous!

Any opinions would be great, thank you!!

That should have been would you go for a Dolce Gusto or Tassimo. And something that COPES with limescale relatively well, we certainly don't need any more of it!!

Hopeful bump.

I have a Dolce Gusto in my office. It is only used a couple of times each day and tends to get replaced every 2-3 years. Yesterday I noticed that the water tank is leaking, but I believe it is fairly easy to descale using sachets bought from the DG website.

Hmmm doesn't sound great longevity wise then? This would be used at least ten times a day when all my colleagues are there!

dont go for one that takes pods one of our managers bought one as a leaving present and no one bothered to get any more pods for it, go for a bean to cup version as someone is more likely to buy coffee beans, they are more robust and better for the enviroment

TBH no. I'm actually considering using a cafetierre myself and seeing if anyone else misses it if I don't ask someone to get a new one.

Don't know if this is much help but my Gaggia espresso is brilliant. Some of my family have different Gaggia models and swear by them.
