Is anyone else's primary school child a little horror at the moment?

I am putting down to being very tired at the end of the school year but oh my word he is such hard work right now. He goes from 0 to full scale war mongering in about 60 seconds. And there's still two weeks of term to go Hmm

Haha! Yes! Dd is knackered and the attitude is rotten. Roll on the holidays!

SeraphinaDombegh · 06/07/2019 08:16

Yes. Y3 child is giving me constant lip and attitude about everything right now. I sincerely hope it's end of term tiredness, because if he carries on into the holidays I'll go out of my mind.

Ceebeegee · 06/07/2019 08:20

Yes!
He's been getting told off alot recently, because he's not listening , having attitude and generally being a bit naughty . I thought it was the start of a phase but it does add up that's is end of term dragging. Our school seems to have been on the wind down for weeks now and still two weeks to go.

This.

Times 3 children.

I hope we will all survive the next two weeks, but I wouldn't put money on it...

Cecilandsnail · 06/07/2019 08:28

Omg yes. Year 4 DD stropping about everything (clothes being a huge issue - she's got sensory issues around clothes and it's heightened when she's tired or overwhelmed). DS year 3 constantly annoying his siblings. DS reception is whine-crying all the time about every fucking thing. He was such an easy affable little toddler - it's like he's making up for lost time. Argh!

Northernknickers · 06/07/2019 08:29

About 80% of my class of 30 😨. It's exhausting...I love them all dearly, but they are tired (as are we!) 😴😴😴

Eminybob · 06/07/2019 08:50

Yeah.
But to be fair he’s been a horror since he started reception in September. I put it down to the shock of the change of routine, long weeks and his age (he’s not even 5 yet!) so am hoping that after a rest over the summer I’ll see an improvement going into year 1.

ThePurpleHeffalump · 06/07/2019 09:02

Primary supply teacher, and yes. Smile
They are too hot, too sticky, too tired, some are stressed because everything is about to change as they move up. There’s two weeks to go, routines are broken up with performances and fairs and sports days. Holiday excitement is building, and that can make them shrill and focused on what they want.
Only two weeks to go!

MsMarvellous · 06/07/2019 09:04

Oh yes. My daughter is a sobbing mess at the end of most days and just looks exhausted. Child number two starts reception in September so I can have it double doses next year Grin

Abouttime1978 · 06/07/2019 09:06

Yes both of mine are a hot mess.

Getting their reports and classes for next year tipped both of them into hysterical tears at bedtime.

9 days to go!

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 06/07/2019 09:07

Yep, my y4 daughter is exhausted, emotional and just a bloody nightmare tbh.

Hairwizard · 06/07/2019 09:08

My ds already off (schools finish end of june here in n.i☹) week 1 down and spent most of it wanting to fucking run away. Hes fucking hard work. Attitude, thinks poo bum fart etc is hilarious. I thought all that would have stopped by now. Does my head in. Contantly shouting when he doesnt listen. So draining.

SittHakim · 06/07/2019 09:09

Yes. DD a total horror at the moment. I am hiding with my iPad while she (theoretically) gets ready for her swimming lesson. She's Yr 4 and I don't remember her being this bad last year.

ScarlettDarling · 06/07/2019 09:16

My own dc are in secondary now but as a Reception class teacher I can confirm you aren't alone. I have 30 little darlings who are tired, over excited by trips out, sports days etc. Roll on end of term!

SparklyOnTheInside · 06/07/2019 09:19

Another teacher here.. and yes all my class are tired and anxious! So is my teen

ATrampsVest · 06/07/2019 09:19

Oh I'm glad it's not just me.

And thank you to all the teachers on here for putting up with them, I can't imagine what it would be like to have 30 of my DS with his current crabbiness Shock

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 06/07/2019 09:22

Yes. Dc in y1, y3 & y4. All of them are crabby & fairly horrible. Can’t wait until the end of term. Really feel for the teachers having to put up with them.

Crunchymum · 06/07/2019 09:25

Y1 and full time preschool here. Y1 is a right state at the moment, bless him.

Rosie2000 · 06/07/2019 10:02

Secondary teacher here, everyone hot, sweaty and tired. My year 4 and 5 kids are awful at home as are my teens. Having a quiet day at home today- I’m hiding in my room Smile

UnaOfStormhold · 06/07/2019 10:06

Oh yes. The light mornings aren't helping either. We have demands to get up from 5am and then collapsing at 8am claiming to be too tired to move and needing a nap. I don't know how teachers cope at this time of year!

ipswichwitch · 06/07/2019 10:06

Same here. Reception child is tired, out of sorts and having more meltdowns than usual (asd). Year 2 child is a whiny, dramatic mess! He’s off to football and a party today, then it’s chill for the rest of the weekend to give them both time to pull themselves round. I see no sense in inflicting their overtired and grumpy selves on the public at large!

PancakeAndKeith · 06/07/2019 10:33

I teach reception. They are all grizzling.
Two children pooed themselves last week. I put that down to tiredness.

BarkandCheese · 06/07/2019 10:41

I’ve got a y6 one, talking to the other parents the children all in a right state. It’s end of summer term tiredness, plus stress about moving up to secondary plus hormones all adding up.
