Summer holiday friends etiquette

On hols, DD has made a friend on holidays. In our day we used to swap addresses and maybe write. What do kids do these days? She has a sim free phone so essentially a very well locked down iPod. She doesn’t have any way of contacting school friends on it and I’m not sure that it would be appropriate to start here, or that it is something I would want to encourage.

And I’m not convinced that a holiday friend shouldn’t be left at just that.

Not sure - at lack of social media old fashioned - swap addresses and write to each other?
Does she have email?

She doesn’t have an email address. They are tween age. I could set up an email address for her I suppose but then I’d have to go down the road of monitoring it. Do kids still write to each other?

Why not let her have an email address, you could also download it on your phone if you felt it necessary.

How old is she? My y6 has WhatsApp -I’d go for that.

Northerngirl that's quite clever to down load it on mum's phone.
I'll keep that in mind for future.

Do you need a phone number for what’s app? Agreed that they downloading email onto my phone is inspired!
