If you had a week child free for the first time ever, had annual leave... how would you spend it? What sort of things would you do?..

I would go and pamper myself! Get my hair and nails done, book in for a facial, get my eyebrows done.

Sit and catch up on a few series on netflix.

Have a clear out of the house and clutter and a huge clean!! Grin

Have a house sort out, do some decorating. Get some bits together I’ve been meaning to try and sell on eBay etc. Drag the sewing machine out. Sit enjoying the silence. Baking, long walks, window shopping in peace in a different town. Reading, catching up on the million different series I want to watch. Naps! My youngest is 1 so this is a distant dream 😂

galaxy101 · 05/07/2019 06:36

Mine are primary aged now and going on holiday with grandparents for a week!! And this is the first time this has happened. I want to make the most of it by doing nice things but coming up blank! Will definitely be getting some decorating done though!

Go on holiday with DH

cocomelon23 · 05/07/2019 06:42

I have weeks occasionally childfree when ds is with his dad. I do extra hours at work to get more time off with ds. I do have every other weekend without him though so I don't feel that need to have any more time to myself.

Stravapalava · 05/07/2019 06:42

I'm lucky enough to get quite a bit of child free time and I:

Exercise - classes, swimming, running
Clean / iron
Mooch round the shops
Do my OU coursework
Meet people for coffee / lunch (mum, DH, friends etc)
Go to the cinema

Explore the local area or go to a country park for the day
Make appointments - hair, nails, tan etc
Do life admin
Mumsnet / internet

We recently had this, though not quite a week. We splurged and went to Cyprus and for the first time in 10 years sat on sun loungers, walked, swam, people watched. It was amazing! Best part for me was no cooking or feeding other people! Even sitting in the plane with a drink binge watching a programme on my iPad was great! Came back feeling incredible!

MurkySkies · 05/07/2019 06:46

Oh my god OP, a week of no kids and annual leave sounds like the most blissful thing ever. I mean, I love mine very much but ....

Definitely declutter the toys and spring clean the house as soon as the door shuts behind them so you can maximise the enjoyment of a house that stay tidy longer than 5 minutes.

Many naps and natural wake up times.

Go out at night with no babysitter faff.

Pamper session.

Morning sex! I think I miss that most of all..

onlyconnect · 05/07/2019 06:47

Have you got any friends who can escape and sleep over for one night? I'd do that ( walk and pub meal with them or cook a nice meal) once or twice.

The rest of the time I'd be doing the sort of things mentioned: a mix of getting stuff done and relaxing.

Sounds great!

titsbumfannythelot · 05/07/2019 06:49

Sex in the morning, cinema, spontaneous drinks with friends

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 05/07/2019 06:54

Long lie, then a bath, then a long brunch, then lunch out with drinks, or maybe just find a nice beer garden and chill out all afternoon. I'm not an alcoholic I promise, I just miss day drinking with friends in the sun!

galaxy101 · 05/07/2019 06:54

Definitely plan to deep clean the house immediately so I can enjoy the tidyness and not have it all undone within minutes Grin

I would lay on my sofa for a week

bert3400 · 05/07/2019 07:04

I would go on a city break if the budget allows - stuff at home can wait or do something that you DC wouldn't be keen on doing - museums, theatre , cinema ( non kids films) .

NationMcKinley · 05/07/2019 07:04

Massive de clutter, clean and sort out of house, garden and cars.

Couple of days out with DH doing stuff we’d find difficult with the DCs

Sleeeeeeeep

Netflix

Enjoy OP! Sounds amazing

elizabethdraper · 05/07/2019 07:05

Sleep and eat pizza

DonPablo · 05/07/2019 07:06

If it was next week I'd watch Wimbledon with a bottle of fizz every day. The height of decadence.

HellToupee · 05/07/2019 07:22

I’d be doing naked cartwheels around the entire house.

My DC are late teens so this is what I dream of. I possibly need to get out more Grin

VenusClapTrap · 05/07/2019 07:27

Child unfriendly holiday.

MunsteadWood · 05/07/2019 07:56

Go out together in the evenings! Dinner out, cinema, theatre. Very rare DH and I get to do that at the moment. Yes definitely to lazy window shopping. Sorting the house out, just lying around with a cup of tea and a book. Lie ins! We'd probably also go away somewhere, maybe a city break.

SinkGirl · 05/07/2019 08:08

It’s never going to happen so I can fantasise - I’d go to Florence or Paris or NY. Or I’d spend the week going to the cinema and lovely restaurants and enjoying a quiet house!

I’m very jealous indeed.

galaxy101 · 05/07/2019 09:51

Some great suggestions here, I especially love the idea of naked cartwheels GrinGrin
