1st birthday presents for second child

I'm looking for ideas for dd2s birthday next month. We have plenty of toys and clothes from dd1 so I'm struggling to know what to suggest when grandparents and close friends ask. I want dd2 to have some nice things bought specially for her , but not to have my house completely overrun with stuff!

Things I am wondering about:

Garden toys - we don't have sand, water or ride on toys yet. What is really good for a 1 year old to grow into?
Toot toot bits - we just have the basic track and a few vehicle which she adores. What is best to get next?
Playmobil 123, we have the house but nothing else so would love recommendations.

Or any totally different ideas that have gone down well with your 1 year olds!

Thank you!!

I'm in the same boat, my DS is 1 at the end of the month. My eldest is a girl but so many of her toys were unisex that we are a bit stuck too, got him a trike as his main gift as DD still uses hers and some lovely wooden vehicles and a wee backpack and some clothes but I'm trying to not get anything too bulky as we already have so many things in our house.

We have a similar age gap and I have bought some Toot toot sets second hand for DC2. If you're not too precious you can get some real bargains as the sets are quite pricey.
They are from clean homes and work and I'll put each set in a gift carrier so on his birthday they'll actually be easier to open and play with than if they were new and boxed. Wink

Ps our little girl has one of these which she loves and still plays on 18 months on. We actually got hers from Aldi middle aisle for £20 though.

Fab ideas with the garden toys. Mine sounds very dull, but metal cutlery, special melamine plate and cup set were nice things for him to have his own of. Bath toys also.

I think DC2 had a train set for his1st birthday. He was too young for it but we did it so he had first dibs on what would likely grow to be one of the big shared toys. DC1 was expected to share the Duplo, toy farm etc with the baby, and the baby "shared" "his" train set with her in return.

We are big fans of the little tikes cozy coupe, I had one as a child and we brought one for DD I think for her first or second birthday. She’s 4 and still uses it all the time, it’s very popular when my friends with little ones visit, they just sit in it and smile and occasionally DD will push them round the house. They are big and we did intent on it being an outdoor toy but we’ve found a hidden corner to park it and it looks brand new still. They come with bottoms now -which they didn’t when I was a child to stop young children sliding out.
